Please Read Top to Bottom and then Bottom to Top!

Today was the absolute worst day ever

And don’t try to convince me that

There’s something good in every day

Because, when you take a closer look,

This world is a pretty evil place.

Even if

Some goodness does shine through once in awhile

Satisfaction and happiness don’t last.

And it’s not true that

It’s all in the mind and heart

Because

True happiness can be obtained

Only if one’s surroundings are good

It’s not true that good exists

I’m sure you can agree that

The reality

Creates

My attitude

it’s all beyond my control

And you’ll never in a million years hear me say that

Today was a good day.

Now please read from bottom to top.

Sewing, A Gift and A Rainbow

1   I have spent most of today, a very rainy and windy day, embroidering the duvet covers (nearly done) and changing the pink buttons on my new mac for blue ones as I am not really a pink clothes person!

Blue buttons, just 2 of the 14!

2    I did a small favour for a friend last week and today at choir she gave me a bunch of very pretty pink Carnations. Pink to wear? No. Pink flowers? Any flowers? Yes please!

Driving home from singing tonight I just had to stop to get a photo of a rainbow. It was a full bow with a complete reflection but I couldn’t get far enough away to get the whole picture. This photo will show you how bright and dramatic it was though.

Weekly Photo Challenge – Ephemeral

A year ago, on Mother’s day, one of my daughters gave me a Rainbow maker which works on a tiny solar panel. It sends rainbows dancing all over the room and, when the sun is low, all the way through the house. A few weeks ago I caught a rainbow just as it landed upon a seagull on the rooftop of our beautiful driftwood sculpture made by Jo Perry. It is called Houses and Bicycle. I love how there is a tiny shadow of the seagull on the wall in the rest of the rainbow. The moment was indeed ephemeral!

Thoreau, Hailstones and A Rainbow

1  This quotation came my way today, courtesy of a fellow blogger, unexpected in common hours. Go and have a look at what she writes . I like the sentiment herein.

“If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams and endeavours to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”

– Henry David Thoreau

2   There were so many short sharp hail showers today that I feared for the little Tete a Tete daffodils but they have survived.

3  Coming away from the supermarket today (another first since my op, shopping on my own!) there were very dark clouds and suddenly and briefly a rainbow, very bright against the so dark cloud. I was in the car park so pulled over quickly and caught this photo. The next moment it was gone.  Such is the way of rainbows!

Singing, Rainbows and Narcissi

I was very happy this morning to be able to sit in our sun room for an hour, watching the birds and feeling the sun through the glass, first time in a fortnight. One of my lovely choir friends called me on the phone and The Suitcase Singers sang for me which just about made my happiness complete! Thank you all so much.
Our delicate Christmas cactus still has a few blooms.

As the low sun was streaming in through the windows, it was catching the crystal that hangs there and rainbows were being thrown around the room. I tried several photos and was delighted by the serendipity of the rainbow catching one of the seagulls on the rooftops of our driftwood houses, a delightful piece by Jo Perry.

Mr S found more flowers on the doorstep this afternoon. This time they were glorious Cornish Narcissi which have filled the sunroom with their delicious scent. They came with a note marking our 6th anniversary of moving to this house and were from our lovely next door neighbours who made us feel so welcome from that very first evening.

Another Rainbow, A Tiny Tooth and Clementines

1   As we drew the curtains this morning there was a glorious rainbow, a full curve with a reflection all the way from St Ives where we could see the sun shining to beyond St Agnes Beacon.

Rainbow, Shadows, Reflections and Full Moon

1   Just as we finished singing this morning there was another glorious rainbow across the Penryn River. I love the boats and the flash of blue sky here.

2   Along the road near where I had parked one of the shops had put out balloons. I loved how their colours were caught in their shadows on the wall and in the puddles. Click on any photo for a bigger picture.

3   I just managed to catch tonight’s full moon in the stormy sky before the rain hurtled down again.

Rainbow, Christmas Crackle Biscuits and Sunset

1    There was such a stormy sky this morning and suddenly there was a beautiful rainbow.

2    My lovely sister-in-law in Atlanta sent me this recipe for some delicious biscuits, Molasses Crackle Biscuits, a batch of which I made this afternoon and which I have renamed for the season as Christmas Crackle Biscuits. They are rolled in sugar before baking and end up all sparkly when baked.

3   Driving out this evening to deliver some of the biscuits, there was another stormy sky for sunset.

Feather, Crane and Rainbow

1   Grand-baby J’s favourite place to visit, after the beach, is the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth. Walking around the outside beforehand, there were feathers floating in the harbour on the slightly oily surface. I love the reflection here and the trail as the feather has been blown along by the wind.

2   It was such a misty morning that we couldn’t even see across the harbour to Flushing.  I loved the way the crane almost vanished in the mist.

3   Grand-baby T loved seeing the fish in the underwater tidal pool in the Tidal Zone and she became very excited about the rainbow that only she could see from her lower perspective.

White Ivy, Unexpected Rainbow and Purple Pansy

1    Walking down the lane to town this morning I was surprised to see some white ivy leaves. I’ve never seen the like before.
