We met a singing friend in town today and were talking about the interesting stones that can be found at the beach, especially at Porthtowan. I was reminded of a photo I had seen sometime ago and determined to look it up and here it is – An Alphabet of Stones. I suspect a few may have been chalked but love the idea. We have found a few – an A, an X, an H and an O and are always on the lookout for more.
Thanks to the anonymous person who collected these.
Chopping veg for a stir-fry, I felt this rather beautiful mushroom needed a photo before it was sliced up.
We have been back in Cornwall for 17 years and today celebrated a few days late by having lunch at The Blue Bar in Porthtowan, just about our favourite place!

I love watching the waves and listening to them crashing onto the beach.
There were some beautiful stones as we walked down to the edge of the water.
Our lovely Daughter No 1 has been with us today and we went down to the Blue Bar for lunch. Sadly, there was a power cut just after we arrived so after a wild blow for a few moments of watching the waves and the sea foam we came home.
Our neighbours have some crazy bell baubles in their tree that are keeping us amused as they are buffeted by the winds.
Last night at the Pavilions there was the annual Christmas tree display , all decorated by local schools and other groups.
We’ve put lots of shiny baubles on our growing Christmas tree in the garden and love the effect. I popped one of my glass angels at the top.
Primroses are my favourite flowers and finding them in the garden this morning was a delight. This photo is for Nancy.
Hope you will be very happy in your new home. 🙂
After choir this afternoon, we went to a local pub for our annual carol sing. It was brilliant, the crowds loved it especially our rendition of Fairytale of New York. We collect for our charities at all our gigs.
I love that Daffodils in Cornwall start flowering before Christmas. We bought our first bunches today. I’ll show you them when they have fully opened.
There was an enormous snow-globe on Lemon Quay today, reminding us of the ones we saw in Lucca in the rain last summer.
We have had such a treat this evening, first singing to entertain the incoming audience and then being the audience for the funniest Christmas show “Christmas. Time.” If you are in Cornwall and get the chance to see them, do go!
There were lots of gaudy orange fungi on the paths between the beetroots today, not sure what they are. I’ve looked here but not managed to id them. It’s good to see some veggies almost ready to eat and other tiny ones being planted out in the poly tunnel.
We went to Porthtowan at low tide this afternoon for my lovely Mr S to have a walk in the restorative sea air.
Porthtowan beach
Just see the rainbows in this sea foam that came in on every wave as the sun came out and the tide turned.
We had the best of breakfasts this morning at The Blue Bar in Porthtowan and spent several happy hours with our dear friends before having a stroll along the almost empty beach and then driving off to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.
