We have yet another bright blue day, water and sky just lovely – despite the still chill wind.
Golden dandelion and blur Forget-me-nots as referenced in Kim’s poem a couple of days ago.
Just look at the tail of the fox!
We’ve just finished our latest jigsaw. It’s been really good fun.
There’s a new post box topper in our street, an Easter Bonnet!
I decided I needed a new knitting project. I read about some research into the benefits of knitting and thought that sounds as if it’ll do me good.
“Knitting has been cited as a therapeutic technique known to reduce anxiety (Anderson et al, 2016) and historically has been shown to “reduce chronic pain, boost mood, reduce stress, treat panic attacks, combat loneliness, boost confidence, curtail caregiver burnout and more” (Medaris Miller, 2016)
Off I went to my local wool shop and bought some rainbow baby wool to make a little cardigan. You can read more about the research by clicking on the red link.
My job at Community Roots today was planting the flower seeds for the pollinators that go in each row 11 – 10 veg rows and one flower row all the way across the patch.
The sculpture next door is changing every day with some of the wood added to the tail today. There has been much entertaining speculation from passers by wondering what is going on – drilling for oil or mining for lithium perhaps! Today, next doors’ sculptors have put the maquette at the front of the drive, a fox in the act of leaping onto its prey.

Jamie Oliver has a new short series on TV about cooking with an air-fryer. Tonight I made his fish dish, haddock with sun-dried tomato pesto and parma ham on a bed of garlicky beans. It was delicious and took 15 minutes from start to on the table!
A poem from Kim Ridgeon turned up this morning, just hit the spot and he kindly gave me permission to share it with you.
Here is one of our own beautiful dandelions and tomorrow I’ll show you the Forget-me-nots.
I brought home some salad plants from Roots months ago when there were some left over after being planted in the poly tunnel. I grew them under plastic covers in the trough under the kitchen window and they’ve kept us going all winter. We’ve just harvested all the leftovers as we want to prepare the bed for new plantings. They are delicious!
Just want to send best wishes and congratulations to all those who took part in the ‘Hands Off!’ protests yesterday. That was some turnout across the country. You have our support, as much as it can be from so far away.
The teddy bear is nearly 50 years old and belongs to Daughter no 2. The knitted dress that the Teddy, called Souchka, is wearing, was knitted for me by my Grandmother, the lovely Granny who taught me to knit, crochet and play cards, she of the beautiful wooly jacket that I gave away last week. She made this for me when I was a baby so it is about 79 years old and is in truly beautiful condition. My Mum treasured it, so did I and now it lives on as the best dress of the Teddy.
The scent from these Primulas in a planter in town is as wonderful as their striking colours.
I had tea in a cafe this afternoon, in a most elegant pot (but with no lid!) It poured beautifully.
Today at Roots there were countless small plants to be potted on. I did dozens of Aubergine Long Purple! Among the little plants were some tiny fungi.
At coffee time we always go over the Jobs List – those done and those that still need doing. There is always a job to suit every individual.

For those of my readers who ‘knew’ that my lovely Mr S was going to have a new knee today, it hasn’t happened, for a variety of reasons. We hope for a new date not too far away.
