A Motor and A Shadow

Interesting 3 wheel vehicle in the car park

The shadow of the leaves through a petal of the California Poppies. I love it when something magical like this happens and I’m there to notice.

Bee, Roses and A Poem

It has been heartening today while working in the garden, to hear the constant buzz of bees. They love the Crinodendron and the perennial Cornflowers.

Our golden roses are opening beautifully.

I can’t remember who sent me this poem, but if it was you, thank you. I love it.

Exhibition, Auction and The Vixen

Our lovely neighbour told us about an exhibition at Truro Museum in which she has a piece so we went along to have a look.

The pieces are all just a little larger than a post card and have been donated for a fund raising effort. The online auction will start on June 6th.

I thought it was time you saw the Vixen again as she is developing really well.

Grasses, Ginger Lily and Crinodendron Blooms

The evening sunlight lit up the lovely curves on one of our grasses.

The Ginger Lily is coming into bloom, three creamy, silky flowers so far and another half dozen to come.

The Crinodendron Hookerianum was also catching the evening sun.

Nasturtiums, Painting and Bike

At Roots today, there was a lovely pot of Nasturtiums.

I’ve had great fun today with a lovely group of people painting protest boards. When they are in situ, I’ll show you them all.  I painted the top half of one board, water and splashes.

One of the group arrived on this bike – love the slogan.

Knitting

It’s been a damp, grey Bank Holiday here so I’ve been listening to the radio and knitting –  just started my third baby jacket for the next truck going to Ukraine.
I saw this the other day and liked it.

Carve – An Exhibition at 89 Redruth

Yesterday we went to another exhibition at the lovely small gallery in Redruth, 89. Last week I showed you a painted wooden snail, one of the teasers in the window before the exhibition opened.

The carvings were very beautiful but they were only part of the show. There were also paintings and quirky found objects so that the room was full of colour, of charm, of humour and ingenuity – a real pleasure to spend time there and to chat to the owner of the gallery. Here are a few photos but, if you are local, it’s really worth popping in. You’ll leave with a smile on your face. – such a variety of talent from the one anonymous artist.

Planting, Pansies and Pollinator Patch

I’ve planted up the wall with Rosemary and Thyme for long term and Lobelia and Petunias for the summer.

The pansies in the edibles trough are full of colour.

The pollinator patch at the allotment is full of Sweet Williams which LiveWire 3 planted last year.

Dandelions, Fox Face and Supper

Dandelions are such resilient and gloriously golden flowers. This plant was growing on a concrete wall and catching the sunbeams.

The Fox next door is growing every day and today the face is being worked on and looking brilliant.

Breakfast out with friends again today and we need no lunch on breakfast days. In fact we only wanted a light supper too so an Avocado Caprese Salad just fitted the bill.

Audience, View and A Very Special Moment

This morning at choir,  it was so warm we had the door open as we rehearsed and sitting right outside was a seagull who stayed for quite a while. I like to think it was enjoying our rendition of “Wild Mountain Thyme.”
We went for lunch at The Gylly Cafe and had a wonderful view of the sea and the paddle boarders.
Our friend, Paul Haines is on a Peace Walk, walking from Berlin to Budapest and raising money for Children of Peace. Today he sent the following short report  of a truly special and beautiful moment.
“A Special Moment!!
The other day I was walking out of a town and passed a bus stop. A bus pulled up coming in to the town and the driver and I waved and smiled at each other.
I carried on walking and about fifteen minutes later there was a very loud horn sounding. I turned and saw it was the same bus, now exiting the town. The driver was smiling and waving and then pointed upwards as he passed. I looked at the back of the bus as it drove away, and there, instead of the destination, it read “Together for Peace”. What a wonderful thing the driver had done. What a special moment!!
Unfortunately it all happened so quickly I had no time to take a photo.”
