A lovely display of flowers on these steps drew my eye as I walked up through Penryn today.
Two baby squirrels have been dashing around our garden exploring every corner including the bird feeder and one completely unafraid of me as I approached though the other dashed off along the wall.
I bought myself some beautiful new earrings today from a lovely shop, Fannie and Fox, that I discovered on my walk through Penryn.

In Redruth Market on Saturday there was a new stall – the Year 4 pupils from our local Primary School had been busy making Strawberry Jam and Red Onion Marmalade. They were a delight to talk to and were very good sales-people.
I read in the paper that the Post Office were to issue new stamps celebrating various festivals around the country. One they have featured is Padstow’s ‘Obby ‘Oss.

We have some fabulous new curtains for our bedroom. They are very dramatic and have blackout linings which should mean that we don’t wake at dawn!
It is always a delight to watch the birds at the feeders and today there were a number of baby ones, Blue Tits and Great Tits loving the peanuts and the fat bell.

I’ve been playing with glass again – bought a small lamp and took out the plain glass and replacing it with scraps that I put together with the foiling. I’m pleased with the result.
I put Borage and Nasturtium petals into my G&T treat tonight!

Here are today’s three beautiful things
Sunset two nights ago was glorious. I took this at 10.05pm and even as night fell there was an orange haze at the horizon that lasted such a long time.
One of our walks takes us past a fabulously coloured Hydrangea.
Our Sweet Peas are also fabulous.
I was inspired by a blogging friend, Ute, to blog about the scents in our garden. I always want plants to give me more than one thing – colour, scent, texture, flowers, berries and we have lots that have scent as their first attribute. The main scented flowers are just outside the kitchen and along the steps up to the garden.
1. Heliotrope – also known as Cherry Pie because that is the scent.
2. Lavender – you’ll all know this one
3. Nemesia – smells of vanilla, a favourite of mine.
4. Sweet Peas  – smell of honey
5. Â Dianthus – a sweet clove scent
6. Night scented Stock, a favourite from my childhood and a perfume know as Night Flowers to Daughter No 2 who in toddlerhood would wake up in the night. She was taken out to smell the Night Flowers and would then settle.
and there are all the herbs which are lovely to brush by – Sage, Rosemary, Mint and various Thymes, from next door’s garden, Jasmine and from a bit further away, the gorgeous smell of newly cut grass.

Our drive into Truro this morning was such a treat – a couple of miles of central reservation planted with wild flowers – red and white, yellow and green – so lovely that I smiled all the way!  Photos taken from a moving car – not by the driver.
It amuses me when vapour trails cross in the sky leaving an enormous sky kiss for everyone below. 
The petals that fall from the poppies in the garden retain their beauty for a couple of days.
I met friends as I drove into the car park for singing this morning and I was presented with a stunning little bunch of purple Sweet Peas. To keep them safe in the heat of the morning, I parked in the shade and put them in the little vase that all Beetles have (and where I usually keep a silk daisy) and here they are. 
Our Lilies are opening and they are fabulous!
We were given some Rhubarb the other day, by the same lovely friends, Â and today I made Different Every Time Pudding and added some blueberries. It was scrumptious, of course!
From the kitchen this morning we could see the bees on the Poppies. I took the photo on a very long zoom.
On our walk around the Flat Lode Trail, we saw lots of these little puffy blue flowers. Can anyone id them?
Action for Happiness July poster is aimed at us taking care of ourselves in this uncertain and worrying world.
My cousin and his wife, who live in Australia, are on a European tour and today came to visit us so off we took them down to the beautiful Pandora Inn in Restronguet, Â for lunch. We were fascinated by the behaviour of the eighteen swans who left the water one by one in a long line, sploshing up the muddy beach to drink from some running water. Some time later, they all went back again.
They are much more elegant on the water!
On the way home, we stopped off to show D&T the beautiful Quaker Meeting House at Come To Good. Â This poster echoed some of our conversation.
