Different Birthdays for Twins, Fuchsia with Bee and Vegetable Ring

16 Sep

1   Our twins were born 35 years ago, Daniel on 16th September and Lucy on 17th September. It was always my plan that they should have their own birthdays and I managed it! Daniel arrived a few minutes before midnight on his Great Granny’s birthday which delighted me and my Mum; Lucy just nine minutes later.   We Skyped this morning with Daniel and Ami in Barcelona to sing Happy Birthday!

2   The fuchsias in the garden are really beautiful just now. I sent this photo to Ami as she loves the colour (as you will have seen from her Wedding dress if you’ve been following long) If you would like to see photos of the wedding in Senegal and the very beautiful Ami in her fuchsia wedding dress, have a look here

3   We have been eating vegetarian meals since P arrived for his holiday. Tonight I made the Vegetable Ring as on my Recipe page. I added fried onions to the mixture as I said I would but it made the mixture rather damp and it splatted in the baking. It tasted even better though!

When I sent the photo of our supper to Ami, she asked that I teach her how to make it when we visit them in Barcelona next weekend. It will be my pleasure! I hope I’ll learn how to make Lakh, a Senegalese dish we enjoyed when in Dakar for the wedding.

I did go back and see the beautiful wedding pictures! Family really is everything. The costumes were so colorful and the preparations in the salon were amazing. But the glow and smiles on the faces were what mattered.

I agree! All our faces were aching with smiling and to Skype with Daniel and Ami now that they are together after four months apart is to see more happiness in their faces – just lovely.

Thank you for your lovely remarks 🙂

Your table ring photographs and recipe fascinated me dear Sally, I noted and I want to try it soon. Thank you so much, (by the way I will follow your first recipe, with onion and garlic and also I want to add dill too) Have a nice week, love, nia

Excellent timing with twins born on different days. First time I’ve known anyone to do that. Love the bee in the flower and have already pinned the Vegetable Ring on my Savory Board on Pinterest.com!

I believe you have to set up an account (which you can just have and don’t have to do anything with), then search my name – Kathleen Read Richardson. You see all my boards listed. I love Pinterest for savings things (esp. recipes) that I want to easily find again.

That vegetable ring looks fantastic! I think I’ll be trying that soon.
My sister and I were almost born on the same day. She is 3 years older, born on Sept 10. I was born Sept 9, 11:45 pm. The doctor wanted my mom to wait another 15 minutes, but she told him no way. We sometimes shared birthday cake and parties. But mostly my parents would have a different cake for each of us.

I was very keen that my twins should be individuals and we always did separate days for them, even though it was hard work having two birthday parties! What a pity your Mum couldn’t hang on! But there is no defeating Nature! I was just lucky! 🙂
