St Just to St Mawes, Blackberry Dessert and Driftwood

15 Sep

1   Over the King Harry Ferry to St Just and then a five mile walk along the coastal path to St Mawes, again showing Cornwall off to P.

The King Harry Ferry

KHF timetable. Love the detail – This side : The other side!

There had been a recent wedding in St Just Church

Wedding flowers on the side of every pew.

Inside St Just Church which was filled with the perfume of all the beautiful flowers

2   The best dessert in the world has to be blackberries warmed by the sun and straight from the hedgerows.

Warm blackberries

And while I was picking blackberries I spotted this spider very busily spinning her web.

Spider in the sky

3   On the small stretch of beach that you can walk along on this walk we found lots of fantastical driftwood and this delightful resting place!

and a bonus photo – just because I love the colours in the foreground and hope you will too!

I’m very happy that you found it so. It was such a quiet walk, the only sound being that of gentle waves lapping the shore. 🙂

Hello. My good friend Shelagh in Vermont introduced me to your blog. I haven’t read every entry yet, but I will. Like Shelagh I’m a huge Kernow-phile and King Harry fan (also with a badge to prove it. There is a small band of KHF fans around the world.) I am going to thouroughly enjoy reading your blog, and the photos are wonderful! I especially like the one overlooking Carrick Roads. Thank you from Wiltshire.

Thank you so much for looking in! If you love Cornwall, I hope you’ll find lots to like in my blog!

I love KHF and have been travelling on it (or earlier versions) since I was 16! We didn’t have a car until then. I don’t have a badge! How do I get hold of one?
      🙂

You can get a badge, or choose from a selection of King Harry inspired items at
        http://www.zazzle.co.uk/ferryfans
10% of the cost of each item purchased from the Ferryfans online store will go to the RNLI. The photos were taken by me,or, if you have a favourite photo of the KHF of your own, they will make a badge, mug, keyring etc. for you using your photo. Bear in mind that items take around two weeks to arrive.
I love the idea of finding three things each day that please you. It must give you a really positive outlook on life : )

Thank you for that info. I’ll go and look and tell my SIL who lives in Atlanta and who loves her visits to the ferry as much as you do!

You are right about the positive outlook and I find I am seeing more and more detail that, prior to writing my blog, I think I might have passed by.

Thanks again for your visits. 🙂

I’ve just visited the site – thank you. In fact, I won’t tell my SIL as I’ve just sorted her Christmas presents, thanks to you! 🙂

All photos today elicited a huge AHHHHHHH from Vermont. I am a KHFerrier and have my badge to prove it. I agree with the driftwood comment, nature’s sculpture in situ is stunning.

I thought you would like today’s photos! We waved at the web cam for you at about 4pm our time!

Yes, the driftwood comment is so right, in situ is the place for it to be. 🙂

The colors in all your photos are so…….colorful. lol

I love driftwood. I know a lot of people like to decorate with it, but I like seeing it just where it belongs.

Beautiful aren’t they? They were just beginning to fade but had all been fresh and the Church was filled too, all the beautifully carved pews had them on the sides and there were huge bouquets at the front. The Church was suffused with perfume!

I’ll add a pew photo to this post for you to see. 🙂

All lovely photos. What does the ferry ride cost? I always thought blackberries were just black raspberries. Didn’t know there was an actual “black berry”.

It’s £5 single and £8 return but we have a Mussel card which we buy in advance so it works out much cheaper and we can use the card on any of the ferries across / around the Fal.

Blackberries are delicious and very different from raspberries – which I also love.

Thank you for calling in and commenting 🙂
