Spring Trees, Reading Group and Sunny Corner

1 Driving to Penryn this morning for singing with The Suitcases, it was a delight to see the trees all greening up with that beautiful vibrant lime green of new unfurling leaves.

2. Brilliant reading group session as there was so much to say about ‘Half of a Yellow Sun’ by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. We all found it to be a fascinating and unputdownable read that we also found very disturbing though touched with a sardonic humour.

3. We drove along the lane at Sunny Corner this afternoon on our way back from the Garden Centre. Mum and Dad lived along there for many years in a cottage they named ‘Chimneypots’ and it was a real journey down memory lane!

Penryn, Shopping and Nutella

1   Another beautiful day so singing with The Suitcases in the Zed Shed was particularly lovely with the view of the Penryn river as a backdrop. It was our last session with Claire for seven weeks as she goes off to London to be MD on the Wildworks production, Babel in Caledonia Park. I hope to go up to London to see the show in May.

2   Went into Truro after singing to meet the lovely Mr S to do some final shopping for our trip to Senegal and also met Phillipa and Dan with their tiny baby daughter for whom I knitted the Sally-boots. They are too big for her just yet.

3     I made some Nutella meringues! Truly scrumptious but one to share was enough and the rest will be frozen. This was to use up all the egg whites I had left from making Jewel Cookies.  Choc Chip Uru at Go Bake Yourself was my inspiration for these. Thank you!   http://gobakeyourself.wordpress.com/

Singing Amy Winehouse, Lucy News from Namche Bazaar and Daffodils

1  Fabulous singing session this morning learning ‘Valerie’ by Amy Winehouse.  As the harmonies built up and then the melody came over the top – it was brilliant!  And I hadn’t liked it much on first listen. I love the way Claire can do that for us!

2   Came home to find this message from Lucy on Facebook:   “Now that was the hardest thing that I have ever done and possibly the hardest thing that I will ever do, I got very sick and nearly didn’t make it, but did and now I’m flying back down the mountains… lots of love to all… Still taking sponsorship…http://fundraise.unicef.org.uk/MyPage/LucyEverestBaseCamp

We are so proud of her and delighted, that despite being so sick, she made it!

3  There are daffodils in the garden, some open, others just bending their heads ready to burst.  There’s a field near Ponsanooth on my way to Penryn that has daffodils all over it and it’s such a delight to round the corner and see them.  It’s not commercial growing – they’re just there!

Hailstorm, White Camellias and a Video

1  Driving through Penryn this lunchtime I went through the most amazing hailstorm. In moments the roads were full of the little white balls and only moments later streams were racing down the hills as the hailstones met the relatively warm ground. And then the sun came out!

2  So many Camellia bushes, mostly pink but one white and gorgeous, on the route from here to Penryn and all smothered in blossoms.

3  I was sent an email with this short video. It sums up what I, as a Humanist, believe.
