Orange, Arrow and A Van

Sitting in the lovely Grow Box cafe at Krowji, having a cuppa with a good friend, I was taken with the occasional sunbeams highlighting the dried orange slices decorating the windows.

On the way out I noticed the feather that someone has put on the  arrow pointing the way to the cafe.

In the car park, while waiting for my lift (my lovely Beetle is in the garage), I watched some workmen loading thier van and liked the painting on the side.

Some Old Tyres, A New Word and Beaches

We keep the big doors open at the eco barn when we sing on Monday afternoons and today, through the gap,  I saw some of the delightful and imaginative decorations in the yard, all made from old tyres and painted brightly to become a toucan and a palm tree!

I learned a new word the other day – confelicity.  It means taking delight in the happiness of others. This is what it was like last week when we so enjoyed taking our Ukrainian friends to the beach where they were able to let go of some worries for a while and could revel in the joy of the sea and the beach.

Our friends are in our hearts and our thoughts all the time and especially today given the ongoing news.

I was a Festival Virgin……..

…….but no more! I have spent the last few days at WOMAD in Wiltshire and found my spiritual home! To begin the days with singing in harmony, to end the days with dancing, in the rain or in the evening sunshine, to fill the hours in between with music from all over the world, with food from all over the world, to be with some of the people one loves the most and surrounded by happy, like-minded strangers – well, what more could one ask for?  Honestly? Only to have the rest of the family there too!

Why have I not been to music festivals before? I can’t really answer that question. I have always wanted to and now, at last, I have and I have loved every single minute of the four days.  I’m already looking to book for next year!

Let me take you on a visual journey through the Festival. I’m just sorry I can’t bring you the music. Here are a few photos from our first impressions on Thursday evening – colour, inventiveness, children, happiness, parched grass, music……

More tomorrow.

Falmouth, Maritime Museum and Godrevy

1    It was a beautiful sunny day in Falmouth where we met P&V who came over from St Mawes on the ferry.

2    We had a lovely time playing with the remote controlled sailing boats in the Maritime Museum.

3    Try to imagine sitting on the cliffs as the sun sets into the sea and hearing the waves lapping on the shore. Gradually, lights appear on the island and all the while you are listening to a soundscape of beautiful love poems……..  That was us, this evening,  taking part in the Peace Camp 2012, part of the Cultural Olympiad. If you are reading this and are near one of the other installations around the British coast, do try to join in. It is a truly beautiful experience.Wherever you live, you could still download the soundtrack,http://www.peacecamp2012.com/locations/godrevy-head.aspx  enlarge one of my photos, listen and imagine!
