Travelling, The Kindness of Strangers and Sky

Twelve hours of travelling, car, train (across the Tamar) bus, plane, train and bus again to be with our family in Granollers, Barcelona and to meet our Grandbaby twins, LiveWires 5 and 6! They were both still awake as I arrived but photos will have to wait until tomorrow.

There is work going on at the station at Granollers so there is no underpass but a temporary footbridge that has 60 steps up and 60 down! I managed ten and stopped for a rest when a young woman asked if she could help. As we arrived at the sixty down, a young man asked if he could help. Between them and their kindness, I arrived at my bus stop still breathing! This is the sky as I waited for my bus.

Apartment, Hedge and Balcony

From the supermarket we can see our apartment on the hill.

Surrounding the car park of the supermarket is a bright yellow hedge of Marguerites.

Lots of balconies are planted but this one is the best, overflowing with Geraniums.

A Day Out in Granollers

Grannyairs is how to pronounce the name of this town where D&A live. We had an easy day, wandering the streets, listening to street musicians,  people watching – always one of my favourite occupations – and shopping for books and creative bits and pieces for Grandbaby N when she comes to live here. D took us to a Catalonian restaurant, Cala Sila, for lunch and we discovered the most delicious dessert, Crema Catalana – again, photos to follow.

There was a fabulous thunderstorm and I managed to get some lightning shots- look for them next week too! Supper was a delightful surprise as D brought a good friend, Larrick Ebanks,  home and we had a most enjoyable evening. Larick is in the music business and had some brilliant stories to tell. His label  Distinctive Rhythms & Under Ground Sounds is taking off!

Hibiscus, Festa Major and Clock Tower

1. This beautiful Hibiscus and the resulting Okra are growing on the balcony in Granollers near Barcelona where we are visiting for a week with our son and daughter-in-law.

2. Yesterday evening we strolled about the town in the midst of the crowds enjoying the last day of the Festa Major. The streets were full of happy families enjoying the music and dancing, the puppets and the fireworks and the shopping.

Cafe Touba, Spanish Street Life and A Senegalese Supper

1. A beautiful breakfast of croissants with Spanish ham and Cafe Touba, the smell and taste of which took me straight back to Senegal and our breakfasts in the outdoors dining area. This morning was also full of conversations using English, French and Wolof!

2. D had to work this morning so A took us for a stroll around Granollers, meeting him after his teaching session. We waited outside the school and watched the world go by, families, a man with a tree, a woman hurrying by with a cake, and round the corner, a wedding with explosive confetti and an amazingly long Limousine.

3. A cooked us a beautiful Senegalese chicken dish called Yassa which was utterly delicious and which again took us back to Senegal and our fabulous time there in April for the wedding.
