Tulip, Leaf and Sewing

I’ve had a very quiet day today, buoyed up by the love of friends and family. Here is a tulip, photo taken late afternoon and glowing.

The Corkscrew Hazel we planted to mark our friend’s 100th birthday almost a year ago is coming into leaf.

I was featured on the Cornwall Scrubs page!
“One of our volunteers explained why she was sewing for Cornwall Scrubs. Sally gave a clear reminder as to the sacrifice the NHS staff are making for us.

“I have a young friend who is a Nurse. She and her husband, also a Nurse, have taken the huge decision to take their two boys to live with their grandparents so that they don’t bring an infection home”
💙
So while I know we will miss our families and friends over Easter please remember that “we will be together again.”

A Gift, Another Gift and Forget-Me-Not

Yesterday we bought a beautiful little tree and today the lovely Mr S has planted it. A very dear friend of ours will be 100 years old in May and she has asked that we don’t buy her ‘things’ but instead plant a tree in her name  in our own garden or in the family Forest Garden.  We have chosen a dramatic red leaved Corkscrew Hazel, Corylus Red Majestic. It has the prettiest red catkins.

Another friend was in touch today as she was wanting to buy one of my glass pieces to send away for a birthday present. This is the piece she chose and it all wrapped up ready to post in its special box.

The Forget-Me-Nots that I brought from my Mum’s garden after she died in 1993 have just begun flowering for this summer.

Catkins, Crafting and Advice

There are just a few catkins left on the Corkscrew Hazel in our neighbours’ garden.

We were at the Children’s Centre again today, working with the young Mums on an installation for the St Euny project. They are making memory boxes telling of current lives to complement the stories of past lives we are telling in ‘Until the Day Break’. These two boxes are still unfinished but looking quite beautiful already. There was a lovely happy atmosphere all afternoon.

I loved this advice for parents hanging in the centre.
