A poem came my way today for World Poetry Day and I love it. Enjoy your day and its promise.
I love the philosophy shown in the video.
The sun shone today so we went to St Ives on the train. Just look at the vibrant blues of sea and sky!
Just loved the Outi Pieski exhibition at Tate St Ives.

Duodji is a Sámi word meaning art, handicraft or home-craft. Outi Pieski created the beautiful ‘three-dimensional painting’ Beavvit / Rising Together Il with women duojárs (duodji practitioners) using traditional Sámi shawl-crafting techniques.
What a day full of beauty we have had!
Among the many books I inherited from my Dad is a delightful book about the various dialects in England, “Word Maps A Dialect Atlas of England”. I turned to this after one of my followers commented about an obsolete word I had shared, quanked, saying that in the North East, the word jiggered is used to express extreme weariness.
I was hoping to find other dialect words for tiredness but, sadly, not in this collection. I have, however, marked several pages to share with you at some point. Today, it is a variety of words to name a female cat. My favourite is Betty Cat. It would be interesting to know if any of these are still in use. I haven’t ever heard ‘ewe’ used for a female cat in Cornwall but that doesn’t mean it isn’t used. The book was published in 1987……

The lilies in the beautiful bouquet sent last weekend by Daughter no 2 for Mothers’ Day, have opened today and are glorious.
February was unusually warm as well as wet and our tulips opened a month early. They are now nearly over and looking rather blousy and lovely.
After a lovely morning having breakfast out with friends, I have spent much of the afternoon on the embroidery project that I mentioned a few weeks ago. It is nearly ready to show you……
Our front garden has become very overgrown over the winter. While it has rained such a lot, it has also been relatively warm here in Cornwall and the weeds haven’t stopped growing so it was wonderful to have it all professionally tidied and weeded!
We were stopped at traffic lights on our way to Truro yesterday and I managed to get a photo of the very pleasing addition to the road sign before the lights changed. (I wasn’t driving!) I hope others have felt better after reading this too.
There were lambs in a field in the distance on the far side of Truro. There are no sheep in the field behind us this year so I am missing all the bouncy lambs..
It feels like the right day to give you this poem again. It speaks to me very clearly. I hope it does the same for you.
We all worked hard today at Community Roots, some of us potting on dozens of baby tomato plants while all those working outside were preparing beds ready for the big plant out of onions, shallots, garlic, broad beans and more. We had all earned our treats at the tea break today.
