Arizona Boots, A Baby Naming and My Cat Likes to Hide in Boxes

25 Aug

1.   My lovely sister had these boots made for me by an artist in Prescott, Arizona after I had so admired hers. I always wear them for Baby Naming Ceremonies.

Boots for Baby Namings

2.  Two days of downpour prevented today’s Baby Naming Ceremony from being in the garden but it all went off very well in the Village Hall. H was delightful and did listen when I spoke directly to him – “We have come together here today to formally introduce you, H, to our world. Please treat it gently, with respect and with a curious mind.”

3.  I was reminded today of a beautiful picture book for children which we must read to Jake. Go to Sam and Holly‘s blog  for a review of ‘Rosie’s Walk’.   I don’t seem to have the copy we had for our four but came across this old favourite in the collection that I have kept for the next generation. We all loved the rhyme and the fun and had a couple of cats who loved to hide in boxes!

An old favourite

Baby naming ceremonies are becoming more popular, it’s an alternative to the traditional Christening or Baptism.
Naming ceremonies offer a lot more of a personal content then what you would expect from the traditional ceremonies, what you want in life for your baby, the hope, dreams and wishes, also they now tend to include the older siblings as well, as a formal welcome to this brand new addition, these hope dreams and wishes dont have to be serious, I had a boy say to his younger brother that he hopes that you(the child being named) will play with him all the time, how ever his older sister went on to say that she wanted to paint his nails!!
It can also mark the first birthday of your child…. Look how far we have come let’s celebrate!
So often now we are in too much of a hurry to do things… quick get the baby christened, with me as your baby naming celebrant I take the time with you to write the ceremony you want for your baby, the little touches that wouldnt be in a church Baptism or Christening.
By taking the time with you WE create the perfect ceremony, more often than not parents pay tribute to their parents, with thanks and praise and also to publically note that they are grateful for the dedication its takes to being a parent.
Some families have a naming ceremony for all of their children at once, with this type of ceremony it doesn’t matter what age the child is in fact if they are older they are more likely to remember it and join in more, this then turns into the best family day, with all the focus on the children.
The fact that you can come to Tenerife to have this, and all planned for you by professional months in advance, is an excellent alternative to anything that you would have dreamed of.
Having me as your baby naming ceremony celebrant couldn’t be easier, we correspond via email, skype also if you wish, we make sure that the ceremony contains everything that you wish it to contain, no cutting corners!!
When you arrive on the island we will meet a day or two before the ceremony to run through and choreograph it, the ceremony isn’t done until you are 100% happy, even up until the last moment the ceremony isn’t finalized until you say,

This describes exactly what I do! I do it in the beauty of Cornwall and wherever is suitable – on the beach, in the garden, in a park or in the home.

The parents choose a non-religious ceremony as they want their child to be free to make choices when s/he is old enough to do so.

Last Saturday’s was a delightful occasion with all the family involved. 🙂

Love your view of life, and your footwear!
But most of all love the fact that you always take the time to visit and say something nice.
Even AnElephant needs a kind word sometimes!

The boots are amazing – so arty! 🙂

And that book, ah sigh, Daniel truly loved me reading him stories on cats. We’ve had a lot to do with cats, really. I guess because I love them!

It was a lovely occasion! The hall was all decked out with bunting and they had low tables at the back for the youngsters to draw and play. Delightful! 🙂
