A Storybook, A Cat and A Basket

One of our children’s favourite books was My Cat Likes to Hide in Boxes and the LiveWires have all enjoyed it too

We gave our lovely neighbour a basket we no longer need to keep her kindling in, and before she could load it up, Zorro had claimed it. Thanks for the photo, S..

Embroidery Silks, Pillow Cases and Cato

I needed more embroidery silks for finishing off the pillow cases so went to my favourite shop, Redruth fabrics which is an Aladdin’s Cave of gorgeousness.

Beautiful silks

This afternoon I finished off the pillow cases which each say ‘Goodnight ******’ (Insert name of Grandchild here). As I was doing the embroidery, I was thinking about my Mum who did the same for our four children nearly 40 years ago. Two, at least, of our children still have their much loved pillow cases!

Our children and their children love the picture story book, ‘My Cat Likes to Hide in Boxes’ and visiting next door this afternoon, I was reminded of it when Cato came to sit near me, not on my lap or on the settee but in the box lid.

Making, Playing and Kindness

1   We had some lovely making sessions today, first some arty plates and later some star flapjacks, lots of singing, especially Skinnymarinka and lots of stories including ‘The Dogs’ Bottoms’ and ‘My Cat Likes to Hide in Boxes.’  Recipe for best-ever flapjacks to be found here.

2   The soft-play, Bombadinga’s was great fun, charging around in safety.

3   On our walk this afternoon we saw these mugs on a wall. There have been workmen in our street all day and one of our kind neighbours gave them coffee.

Arizona Boots, A Baby Naming and My Cat Likes to Hide in Boxes

1.   My lovely sister had these boots made for me by an artist in Prescott, Arizona after I had so admired hers. I always wear them for Baby Naming Ceremonies.

2.  Two days of downpour prevented today’s Baby Naming Ceremony from being in the garden but it all went off very well in the Village Hall. H was delightful and did listen when I spoke directly to him – “We have come together here today to formally introduce you, H, to our world. Please treat it gently, with respect and with a curious mind.”

3.  I was reminded today of a beautiful picture book for children which we must read to Jake. Go to Sam and Holly‘s blog  for a review of ‘Rosie’s Walk’.   I don’t seem to have the copy we had for our four but came across this old favourite in the collection that I have kept for the next generation. We all loved the rhyme and the fun and had a couple of cats who loved to hide in boxes!

An old favourite
