Feather, Clematis and A Welsh Dragon

A delicate white feather became caught on the seed pods of a Crocosmia.

Lady Betty Balfour Clematis is one of my favourites. It is flowering rather early this year as it is supposed to bloom in September.

A number of The Ingleheart Singers have been to meet the two Welsh choirs who are visiting us from Port Talbot for our Grand Annual Concert tomorrow. As I was leaving the car park of their hotel,  I noticed the sunset reflection in their coach window above the magnificent Welsh Dragon.

Email, Card and Mural

1    I received a lovely email from one of the Cor Serenata thanking me for the book I sent and looking forward to The Inglehearts’ reciprocal visit to Port Talbot next year.

2   This card has been on the dresser for a few days brightening my days. It came from a very good friend left behind in Yorkshire when we came back to Cornwall nearly 6 years ago and it was a real joy to receive. A is one of those special people who you might not be in touch with or see for months but the moment you are together, the time falls away and there you are again, warm, happy and safe in each other’s company.

Inside it says, '...the way thoughts of you brighten mine!'

3   At the hospital today (just for Visual fields tests as my Dad had glaucoma) I found the other delightful mural by Peter Wright. This one is called, ‘Falmouth Working Boats’ and is about 3 meters long. To see the first one if you missed it, click here.

2   Today I have posted off a copy of one of my Dad’s books, ‘Moonglow’, to Cor Serenata, the Welsh choir who visited us last August, as a small thank you present for such a lovely weekend. I’ve only just realised that I didn’t post about the concert! See below for a gallery.

3   The vegetables all chopped for Roast Veg with Halloumi looked so lovely, almost all colours of the rainbow.

Caterpillar, Granny’s Mirror and Cor Serenata

1   Sitting looking at our one year old Malus, I was thinking how few leaves there were and that at the top there was a rather strange leaf. On closer inspection I found an enormous caterpillar, very beautiful in his own way but I’m not happy that he is demolishing the Crab Apple! I think it’s a Hawk moth caterpillar.

2   My Granny used to keep this little steel mirror in her handbag and, as a little girl,  I was allowed to get it out now and again. I loved the painted side . The other side is just plain.

3   Tonight, some of us went to meet Cor Serenata, the choir from Port Talbot with whom we are doing a concert tomorrow night. It was a delightful evening with them singing in the garden of the hotel and being much appreciated by the other guests. You can still get tickets for the concert at St Andrew’s Church in Redruth if you are a local! (from me or from the Health Food Shop in town) .  There was a beautiful sunset to be seen from the hotel lawn while they were singing.

Baby Footprints, St Andrew’s Church and Singing

1    L and Grand-baby B went home today after their all-too-short but beautiful visit.Grand-baby B left her footprints behind on the slate mantlepiece where she was standing to laugh at the baby in the mirror. You’ll have to look carefully! There are the toes from one foot and the heel from the other.

2   The Ingleheart Singers had our weekly rehearsal, not in the usual place but at St Andrew’s Church in Redruth this evening in preparation for our concert there with Cor Serenata, a visiting Welsh choir, on Saturday evening. (If you are local you can get tickets from me or from the Health Food Shop on Bond Street! It’ll be a cracking night!) The altar cloth is a delight with the Ark and the animals depicted in embroidery and collage and the acoustics are amazing.

3   It was just wonderful to be singing with The Inglehearts again after a month of summer holiday. I so miss singing when we have a break. This weekend is going to be full of happiness with singing from Friday to Sunday! Joy!
