Blues, Brunch and A Dog

The colours of the sea were just glorious when we went to the Blue Bar for brunch this morning. Walking on the beach afterwards we were in awe of a couple of swimmers enjoying the cold water and of the extremely well behaved dog who sat and watched for ages. It turned out that these two were friends from Roots and we had big wet hugs and lots of laughs together.

Loaded banana bread with vanilla mascarpone and fruit compote with crispy bacon – absolutely delicious!

We went for an early morning walk with my camera.

After breakfast at the Blue Bar , a treat to celebrate Granny and Grandad’s 57th wedding anniversary, I went for a walk up the cliffs with Mummy.

We decided to make tasty Choc Chip cookies this afternoon.

I found these in the garden later.

Sea, Stickers and First Tomatoes

Our eldest daughter came down for the day which was a surprise and a delight. We went to our favourite place for lunch, The Blue Bar in Porthtowan, and then had a walk on the beach in a biting cold wind.

We followed a car with a good array of stickers on the back showing her love of Cornwall and a random one of Highland cattle.  🙂

We all three did some work in the allotment this afternoon, so good to have some help, and I was delighted to spot the first two baby tomatoes on the plants in the poly tunnel.

Flowers, Breakfast and Sea

We met our lovely friends for breakfast as we have done each month for a couple of years. It was the turn of the Blue Bar in Porthtowan today and as usual we enjoyed  delicious meals and talked almost non-stop!

Breakfast for me was Toasted Banana Bread with Mascarpone and Berries with Honey – yum.

The red flag was up so there was no-one in the sea where the waves were crashing onto the shore.

Tea Set, By The Sea and Goodbyes

For many years, when we lived in Yorkshire,  I worked for two weekends in June as the ‘cash and wrap’ lady for Jane and Ted Hamlyn’s selling weekend. As payment, I always received beautiful pieces of Jane Hamlyn’s salt glazed pottery and I have the loveliest collection of her pots and some of Ted’s paintings.  One year, she made a tea set for a customer and then one for me for Grandchildren that we hoped to have but of whom there was as yet no sign. Now we have some and this week we have given the tea-set to B, LiveWire No 4. She has played with it every day and is delighted with it.

We had lunch today at The Blue Bar with B, LiveWire No 4 and her Mum, Daughter No 3, my beloved Brother and his wife. Here is B, looking for her little cousins on the beach.

We have said Goodbye to my kid Brother and my beloved SiL today who leave on the train tomorrow morning and I am very sad. We have had a brilliant time and very soon I will be able to focus on that. Right now I am sad.

Sunset, Kniphofia and Seed heads

We went to Porthtowan for supper and the sunset again tonight. We are so lucky to be able to do this! The sunset was glorious as the sun slipped into the sea. Outside the Blue Bar is a Kniphofia, a Red Hot Poker, that has grown in the strangest way and there are some dramatic seed-heads which looked good against the sunset sky.
