Six on Saturday – Buds and Blossoms

Firstly, thank you to everyone who identified the red beetle I found yesterday. It is no more and hopefully our Lilies will be fine.

The garden is full of growth which is delightful.

1.  Wisteria
Having waited about seven years we have been rewarded with our first Wisteria flowers.

Wisteria Sinensis Prolific

2.  Clematis Duchess of Edinburgh has some healthy buds.

3.  Likewise the Clematis Warsaw Nike

4.  Another Clematis, Montana Elizabeth,  is wowing us as it roams across the back fence. There is another lively one along the front fence too.

5.   The last of the Tulips are still vibrant. We planted white and purple ones in this pot – these were a surprise to us!

6.     Discovery apples As some of the blossom falls, we are delighted to find tiny apple buds beginning to grow. This is one of the trees we planted for our Dear friend, Ti, who was 100 years old  last Sunday. Check out those posts for her Climate Emergency Party held on Gylly beach.

Spring Green, Trinity and BBC World News

I love my drive from home to choir on a Thursday morning along Cornish lanes and through tunnels of trees. They have greened up so beautifully over the last couple of weeks. I love how this photo looks like a painting. (I wasn’t driving this morning!)

This lovely amiable dog, Trinity, was at the boatyard today and I’m told almost every day, loving any attention.I love that her eyes are different colours.I’m  told  lots  of  this  breed  have  this  feature.  Anyone  know  about this?

Our Dear Friend’s 100th Birthday has been featured on BBC World News!  It has had well over 20,000 views! If you’ missed the story on Sunday, catch up on Ti’s story by clicking the red link below.  https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p078kdhc

White Hebe, Lego and Ti’s 100th

Our White Hebe is flowering and there’s a Bluebell and some Three Cornered Leek peeking through.

We, The Ingleheart Singers, rehearse in Troon Primary School each week and today a board of Lego had been left behind in the hall, taking me back to the days when our kids enjoyed similar toys though the designs have moved on in 40 years!

Many readers will know that we went to a very special Birthday Party on Sunday when our Dear Friend Ti was 100. The local paper, The Falmouth Packet, reported on this remarkable lady You can read the lovely report here in  The Falmouth Packet

Beach Birthday Party for Ti, 100 Years Old Today

Our Dear Friend Ti has been celebrating her 100th birthday today!  She wanted a picnic party with a Cornish Cream tea on a local beach with friends and family and for it to be a demonstration about the climate emergency. She says that if Greta Thunberg can speak up for the young people, she can speak up for older generations.  What a star she is!

Being interviewed by the BBC

You can see the BBC report here.  https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cornwall-48160696?SThisFB&fbclid=IwAR02RTrnfVaSHYtzyELHskbcQ8PGDQ9H91md6MKQyRIJYSjdBntQJE2i0qU

My choir, The Suitcase Singers, all came to Gylly Beach as a surprise to sing for her, starting with ‘You Are My Sunshine’ and ending with a new song, ‘Voice of Change’ written by Claire Ingleheart, our choir leader, and Jamie Locke, about the Climate Emergency. I will try to get you a recording. It went down well.

Her birthday cake was made for her by a very talented young lady, S, one of Claire’s daughters.

Wow!

We are going to plant an apple tree that will be in flower every year on Ti’s birthday.

Apple tree, Discovery, waiting to be planted

Happy Birthday, Ti! xx

A Dog, Bluebells and Rhododendrons

I headed off to Enys Gardens after a fabulous Suitcases singing session this morning learning another of Claire’s own compositions. Enys’  bluebells are supposed to be stunning. Sadly they didn’t open until 2pm so I set off home and that journey takes me past Burncoose Nursery whose gardens don’t have the same reputation but are absolutely glorious – and free!  Join me on my walk as the nursery dog joined me. Many readers will know that I am afeared of most dogs but this gentle soul doesn’t bark or jump up, just waits at the gate for the next person to go for a stroll and then pads along with you. It was a beautiful moment with a beautiful creature in a very beautiful setting and the only sound was bird song.
