A Good Story, Polish Spirit and Kashmir Lilies

20 Sep

1   No photo for this but a heart warming story for you.  The 19 year old son of one of our choir members has been travelling in Europe and lost his iPhone when in Berlin.  His mother received a call from a Turkish man, also travelling, saying, ‘ I am ringing the number of Mum to tell you I have found a phone.’ He explained that he was leaving Berlin the next day but could arrange to meet the son that evening. His Mum had no way to contact him so this couldn’t happen.  The lovely Turkish man asked for the UK address, took the phone home with him and then posted it to England! Now, isn’t that a beautiful thing?

2   As P has left for Poland I have collected a Clematis that we had on order for my purple, white and green garden and the lovely Mr S has planted it this afternoon. It is called Polish Spirit.

3   The Kashmir Lilies in the garden are in bloom and there should be flowers throughout the Autumn and into Winter. They are very beautiful.

If you have read any of yesterday’s comments, you’ll see I was admonished for my portrayal of a Cornish Cream Tea! The cream goes on top of the jam in Cornwall; the other way is done in Devon! My excuse is that the freezer jam had gone very runny and the cream wouldn’t stay on top so I did it this way. Here is the proper thing and I hope I am forgiven!

A scone done the proper Cornish way!

Please forgive too me for not having visited fellow bloggers much recently. As you know we’ve been busy with family and tomorrow we go to visit D&A in Barcelona. I’ll try to post each day and will be back soon to visit you all!  🙂

This is sooo weird. I had just closed my browser from ordering a purple clematis (not Polish Spirit) and searching for what I am calling a pink crocosmia. I can find it nowhere in the U.S. And then I see this photo of what you are calling a Kashmir Lily. I thought my browser had mixed up photos. Maybe I can find this here under the Kashmir Lily. Thanks, dear universe…and you, too, of course:)

So I’ve been doing the Devon cream and jam thing all wrong, all of this time?

That is a wonderful, wonderful story – no. 1. It just so warms my heart, it does. That man is wonderful … and choosing ‘mum’ to ring. Oh, my God, blessings to all mums! Mums will help wherever they can, to be sure.

As for the Polish spirit, I have to admit I clicked on this one curious to see which alcohol you would feature as I remember a wonderful honey vodka that was a Polish spirit I’ve had. But it’s a plant! Even more beautiful then. 🙂

    Great story, that no. 1

Ha, ha! P did bring me a little bottle of a special vodka with grass in it, very fragrant and delicious! Can’t remember its name.
I was so touched by the call to ‘Mum’! So endearing!

All the best to you and thank you
      🙂

Great story! I really think folks in general are honest that way…we just rarely hear about these kind acts. Your flower photos are beautiful and the scone looks delish! Have a great time in Spain!!!

Very nice story. I don’t think those acts of kindness are that unusual. It is just that the other stuff gets the attention in the papers. It would be nice to read more happy ending stories.
The flowers are so beautiful and delicate looking.

That’s so great of him to mail the phone back! Most people would’ve kept it or not have went that extra step! I love that good people still exist!

A graet story to restore our faith in people. Have a great time in Barcelona and be sure to climb one of the towers of the Sagrada Familia when you are there, another Gaudi masterpiece.

Love the Kashmir Lilies, I have been wondering what they looked like after singing along for two years with PIFF.

I am so envious. Barcelona is one of my favourite places, as I lived there for several months during my degree and made good friends. It has everything a city needs. Have a wonderful time!
