My iPad wouldn’t let me write text yesterday hence the rather brief entry.
1 We had beautiful journey up to London starting with mists in the valleys through Cornwall then such a blue sky for the rest of the way.
2 That meant five hours to read, chat, knit one of a pair of bootees and do the crossword. Bliss!
3 When we arrived at Woodside Green tube station and before the train had left we could hear a little voice calling, “GrannyGrandgrand, GrannyGrandgrand!” and as the train drew way we could see Jake with his Daddy. There’s something very special about being a Grandparent.

! Driving to Falmouth this morning I saw , on my favourite tree, just through Lanner, a beautiful buzzard. There being no other cars around, I was able to slow down and have a good look. What a creature!
2 On the same drive I went past the open gate to a whole field of golden daffodils and then began to realise that several fields in the distance were also yellow with daffodils in flower. That made me smile.
3 In my meeting with Humanist friends where we were finalising the social and meeting programmes for the year, someone mentioned Henry David Thoreau’s words about marching to the beat of a different drum.
“If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.”

1 We’ve booked our flights to Senegal for Daniel and Ami’s wedding!
2 Fabulous singing with the Inglehearts tonight and a super offer from the husband of a choir member. His firm have offered to sponsor the sending to Mapoch of all the balls I’ve collected from friends. I’ve been collecting balls from deodorant roll-ons and plastic rolls from printers since Mr S and I did our volunteering in 2007 (building a classroom) and sending them all out to the Gogos (Grannies) who bead them into the most beautiful decorations.
Beadwork by the Gogos of Mapoch, S.A.
This year no new volunteers were able to take them out for me as people have done in the past and they were going to cost about £90 to post! Consequently I only sent a few and the lovely people who’ve been collecting were very disappointed. Thanks to P, it seems as if all the rest might be able to be sent – brilliant!
3 I’ve been booked for a Baby Naming Ceremony in July! Delighted! They are such lovely individual ceremonies to do.

1 I’ve updated my About Me page today. That was a pleasing job done.
2 Our first yellow crocuses have appeared and next-door’s Camellias are just gorgeous and hanging over the wall into our garden.

3 Mocha Crispies all made (Mum’s recipe which I found in one of her handwritten books last December 15th.) I’ve made mocha cream for half of them and coffee cream for the others as Sue, from choir, who enjoys my baking, can’t eat chocolate and I’ll be taking her some on Thursday when we meet to sing at Miss Peapod’s.

1 It’s been a busy day at the bird feeders today. We’ve had a pair of chaffinches, the goldcrest, lots of goldfinches, blue-tits, coal-tits, the longtail tit family and great tits as well as the robins, our blackbird pair and some dunnocks all feasting away.
2 We had some pastry leftover at Christmas and wondered if the birds might like it. We rolled it out and rolled lots of seeds into it. It took them a while to decide that it was okay and today they’ve finished it so I’ve made them a special batch with sesame seeds, sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds which they are eating with gusto.
3 I discovered a box of Baklava in the larder that were missed over Christmas. Mr S and I have been the ones enjoying them!

1 I went to see Jo and her beautiful new baby daughter, Elowyn, and took the little jacket I’ve knitted for her.
2 Found the first primrose and the first periwinkle in the front garden this morning.
3 Started looking up flights to Senegal for Daniel and Ami’s wedding. This is getting exciting!

1 It was so good to get back to singing again and even Claire asking us to dance did not dim my enjoyment! I knew I’d been missing the singing and my singing friends but hadn’t realised quite how much!
2 I saw my hip man this afternoon and he thinks I can put off the replacements indefinitely but says I can ask to see him whenever I want to, if I’m in pain again, and he’ll see me quickly and look after me. It was Joe the osteopath who fixed my hips last June – magic!
3 We Skyped briefly with Daniel and Ami and began to discuss wedding arrangements but we’ve lost the signal from Senegal. The photo is of our beautiful soon-to-be daughter-in-law, Ami.

1 This photo from my dear sister in Hawaii: “Sunrays coming through the steam vents in Hawaii. The steam vents are areas where the land opens and the rain pours down to reach the magma. The heat and water create steam.”
2 I’ve nearly finished my self assessment tax form!
3 Lucy is going to Nepal for an amazing adventure!

1 An email from my Sister-in-law in Munich was an unexpected surprise. Last time we saw them was in May when they came to Cornwall for a Truro School Reunion.
2 Our new washing machine was delivered! We’ve been without for two weeks over Christmas and Grandbabies visiting!
3 Mr S asked for Crepes Suzettes for supper! He certainly is getting better; such relief.

1 Such a beautiful blue sky this morning with the low sun streaming in through the back windows.
2 The piano piece (Grade 1) which I was finding so hard now seems easy! It’s fun to play and sounds really pretty. I’m on to the next piece now and this one’s coming together more quickly.
3 A posting on Fb today from an ex-pupil who is on a world cruise (working!) with a video of his zip wire thrill. It reminded me of our 13 zip wires zigzagging across the kloof in South Africa which was so exciting and it was me who organised it at the end of our Voluntouring in Mapoch!
