Poppy, Walk and Help?

Another Poppy is blooming. At breakfast time it popped out of its sepals and later in the day was fully open. As the sun left that part of the garden, it closed up again.

Our walk today was very blustery! Join us going up to the Flat Lode Trail with a view of Carn Brea, past the St Uny engine house and back home.

We have a problem in the edible trough. A little Viola plant died last week, just went limp and gave up the ghost. Yesterday, all was well with the rest of the Viola border and today – another plant seems to have died. Any ideas? The trough is damp, everything else, lettuces and the rest of the Violas seem fine…….

Raindrops, Today’s Walk and Sourdough

I love photographing raindrops as regular readers will know. Here is a tulip from this morning.

On today’s walk up on the Great Flat Lode, we took a different route, as we can every time we go up there. There are so many different tracks, every day can be different.

Raindrops on Gorse flowers

We baked our first sourdough loaf today. The crust was delicious but the middle too heavy and doughy. We won’t give up!

St Uny Engine House, Curl and Story-time

1  Had a lovely walk up round the back of our house on The Great Flat Lode Trail as Jake wanted to see the engine house again.  (Click on any photo for an enlargement)

2   The back of Tabitha’s head and its beautiful curl are something very special!

3   Another special moment, every evening, is story-time. Tonight it was, ‘Make Way for Ducklings’, a story that my parents brought home from a holiday in Boston about 1980 for our four children.

Our last night with P&V who leave tomorrow morning. It has been a beautiful seventeen days.

St Uny Engine House, The Heligan Giant and The Mud Maid

We have had the most beautiful day today! First we had a walk along the Flat Lode Trail to find a tin mine for Jake and this afternoon we went off to The Lost Gardens of Heligan to find the Giant and the Mud Maid.

I’m going to tell it through photos – enjoy! Click on the first one and then click the arrows on the right to get the whole story.

And now they’ve gone home and the house feels very quiet and empty!
