Today’s walk took us past some early blossom on the Blackthorn, up along the Great Flat Lode, roundabout a stile rather than over and lastly, by the local Nursery School where the gates were covered with little handprints and smiley suns.

Today’s Walk
Raindrops, Today’s Walk and Sourdough
I love photographing raindrops as regular readers will know. Here is a tulip from this morning.
On today’s walk up on the Great Flat Lode, we took a different route, as we can every time we go up there. There are so many different tracks, every day can be different.
We baked our first sourdough loaf today. The crust was delicious but the middle too heavy and doughy. We won’t give up!
Today, Springtime Walk and A Recipe
Today is World Happiness Day and the Vernal Equinox. In these difficult times, let me show you the lambs that appeared in the back field today. It’s Spring.

It was a beautiful morning and we went on our regular walk, a short stretch of the Flat lode Trail. Please join us, especially if you are having to stay indoors, on this lovely full-of-Springtime walk.
A couple of my Dear Readers asked for the recipe for my Special Brownies which I showed you yesterday. You and they, can now find the recipe here.
Fountain, Feeding and Engine Houses
Our copper fountain has been installed at last. It is in the last patch of the garden to be sorted and I have all the ferns and shade lovers ready to plant around it. I love the sound of the trickling water. We put the pebbles into each cup to enhance the trickle sound.
We walked up the back around The Great Flat Lode tonight and were amused by the cows eating in tandem and the calf having a good feed. We are so lucky to be able to walk out of the front door and into such spaces.
Along the trail is Wheal Uny and another engine house. From one angle they looked very like the ones Dad had sketched many years ago (see yesterday’s post) but aren’t quite right. The mast would have gone up much later and the bushes have grown but we think we have to keep looking.
Rabbits, Tide Clock and Brass Trade
1 The rabbits in the field behind us have been running around showing their white tails as they race by – Spring is in the air here too!
2 Our tide clock gives us pleasure every day. We can choose if our walk will be on the beach or the cliff tops. In fact today, because of our continued work on the sun-room, we just went round the Great Flat Lode behind the house. The light was lovely.
3 I offered Charlie’s brass sheets and wire on Network Cornwall today and had a reply from Naomi who makes fused glass and who is happy to trade! See her work at
