Red, Ginger Cat and A Sunset Walk

We found these pretty red flowers on our walk to the swing park.

As we were leaving, a ginger cat befriended us.

The skies were glorious as the sun was setting.

Dawn, Mountains and Marigolds

What a delight to fly into the dawn, a compensation for getting up at 4.30am!

Flying over The Pyrenees was very beautiful.

And now we are in Canovelles with the family, enjoying warm sunshine and getting ready for Christmas. On a stroll around the area we came across some planters full of marigolds where bees were busy collecting nectar.

White Roses, Cherry Blossom and Excitement

My lovely Sister-in-law sent us this photo of White Roses flowering today in her garden despite the early morning frost in Atlanta, Georgia. Aren’t they beautiful? They are a bouquet to send us off on our special journey.

More beauty was found outside our bedroom window this morning – next door’s Winter Flowering Cherry.

I brought a couple of Mince Pies with me to our overnight stay near Bristol airport, the rest I left with our lovely neighbours who are watching over our place while we are in Barcelona. We wil be celebrating Christmas with that part of the family and hopefully the arrival of the Grandbaby twins! Are we excited? You bet we are! 🙂

Happy Winter Solstice to you all.

Crab Apples, Translucence and Generosity

There is a pretty cluster of little apples on our Malus Evereste this year. The Agapanthus leaves are rotting down and have become golden and translucent. At choir tonight lots of people had brought soft toys, colouring books, felt pens and crayons for ‘Bags of Love’, a local charity collecting for children in war torn Syria.

Below is the information we were given. Isn’t this a beautifully simple and lovely thing to do for these children.

“BAGS OF LOVE APPEAL

The hospitals in Syria in the aftermath of an airstrike are chaotic and incredibly busy. Due to the lack of staff, when children are brought in, there is no provision for a quiet space and rarely anyone with the time to comfort them.

The doctors have asked that we launch an appeal to fill bags with things that will keep the children distracted and maybe offer them some comfort. We are ordering 1000 white drawstring/duffle bags printed with the Bags of Love logo and we need donations to help us fill them.

Ideally we would like each bag to have:

 1. A cuddly toy, no bigger than 10″ – doesn’t have to be new as long as it is clean and undamaged

2. A pack of felt tips or pencil crayons (with a sharpener) and a pad

 3. An outdoor toy such as a tennis ball, skipping rope, yoyo etc

 4. A packet of sweets- HALAL suitable – please make sure they have no gelatine in them.

 5. A picture drawn by the child that has filled it, a note telling those children that we care, we think of them and we are reaching out to them ❤️ (this is really important as we can buy other bits but not this!)

Anything else that you think would bring a bit of joy feel free to add in.”

Shadow, Bengal and Tardis

The low early morning sun created pleasing shadows on the wall behind our monkey planter.

If you look carefully you should see the our visiting Bengal cat who walked off up the garden after spotting me in the window.

Our rainbow maker was throwing rainbows around the room today and after many attempts I caught a rainbow on our little model police box, less than two inches tall, our own little Tardis. It in in my print tray with lots of other little treasures

Violet, Gorse and Bracken

Our walk today was under a grey sky but still mild and comfortable. It was a delight to come across a Violet flower.

It is always possible to find Gorse or Fuzzy Bush as it is known locally, in flower, hence the line from  the song ‘Black and Gold’

“Kissing’s out of fashion when the furze is out of bloom!”

The clocks having gone back in the night, the afternoon was soon done and the sun low in the sky, lit up some beautifully coloured bracken.

Bee, Fungi and A Cloud

In the rich dew of this Autumn morning I found a bee on one of the Crinodendron flowers and loved how the sunlight caught the little drops of dew on all his tiny hairs and collected in bigger drops on his wings.

Down the lane today we came upon a new crop of fungi.

Sunset was at 5.45 this evening and the clouds all turned peachy in the setting glow.

Purple, White and Plums

The pink bud of the Tibouchina Urvilleana that I showed you a couple of days ago has opened into a beautiful purple bloom in my Suffragette garden where white Japanese Anemones are also in bloom.

Plums are delicious at this time of year. Here is my Plum Tarte Tatin awaiting its pastry. It is still in the oven…..

Weekly Photo Challenge – H2O

We have been planting bulbs this week and today I noticed the discarded outer layer of one on the grass. Trapped underneath were some droplets of water making for a beautiful shot.
