Marrow, Smiley Bus and Baskets

Last night as we came home quite late we found this beautiful marrow on our doorstep – from Sue-next-door’s allotment. Thank you. Now to find a new way to cook it! Marrow and Ginger Jam was a family favourite. I shall have to look up the recipe.

I love our new Cornish buses. As they approach they seem to be smiling and each one makes me smile back!

3    There are beautiful hanging baskets all over our town, brightening up the streets.

This may not seem to be a beautiful thing but it is in that it takes away all the uncertainty – I have my date for my second Hip Replacement operation – August 19th.
This is a very good date as all the family will just have left after a 10 day holiday with us, D&A&NM from Barcelona, KJ,J&T from London, L&B from Norfolk and M from Exeter. We will have all our four together which hasn’t happened for almost two years so it is very exciting.  It is also more than 12 weeks before Christmas so I will be back, all singing and dancing for that celebration when we are hoping that the whole family will be together again as the Visas needed by the Senegalese contingent of our family are for 6 months. Big smiles all round!

Truro’s Flowers, Muffin Cases and Colouring In

Truro’s flowers this year are even more beautiful than usual – window boxes and hanging baskets are around every corner and are a pleasure to be walking amongst. They are a real credit to those who planted them up and to those maintaining them. Thank you to them all for bringing beauty into a grey day today. Click on any photo for detail.

2   I love shops that are full of baking bits and pieces! Today I found some pretty muffin cases for some pretty Banana and Blueberry Muffins that I plan on baking tomorrow.  I found the recipe on Bernice’s blog this morning. Thank you

3   We read about colouring in books for grownups and thought we would give it a try.  I bought one a few days ago and found the concentration very good for clearing my mind of stuff that I really didn’t want in there. Today, We bought one for  Mr S too.  We’ll let you know how we get on with them. Seems to me the peaceful activity might well be a good one when I am recovering from my next hip op!

3   We are having a picnic with friends tomorrow and I have baked a Mary Berry recipe, a Scone Tray Bake for the shared lunch. I’ve also collected lots of beautiful salad leaves from the garden.

Peppadew and Cheddar Scone – it tastes as good as it looks! I had to try a bit so that it fitted the box!

If you have been following my blog, you will know that I have been very busy! I am sorry that I have not visited you all as much as usual and the next two weeks will be the same as my beloved older brother who lives in Munich is coming to stay. I haven’t seen him for three years! We are going to spend time photographing the beautiful county we grew up in – the coast and the buildings – and make a pilgrimage around all the places we lived – eight different addresses and two where Mum and Dad lived after we had all left home.
