Cake, Seedlings and Squash

I decorated the cake with lemon icing and we all sang Happy Birthday to our esteemed leader!

Lemon and Chocolate Marble Cake

There were very many seedlings, brassicas and salad leaves,  to pot on today and we had a team of eight volunteers on the job.

The squash harvest is in. Thanks to Amy for the beautiful photos.

Kalettes, A Tea-Cup and A Song for You

We are enjoying our fresh greens and purples – our Kalettes. I cook them briefly in garlic butter and the water they were washed in – and they are delicious. Thanks to our allotment friends for giving us the baby plants.

Kalette

One of our Christmas presents was a freestanding tea cup pouring liquid into a splash. It’s a 3D printed piece based on a Bobby Duke original and we love it.

This song came my way today and pleased me greatly. I want to learn it! Given the crazy politics in our country, we do indeed ‘need each other now.’

Seed Pod, Raised Beds and Head Held High

1   I’ve kept the bluebells well past their best for blooms but I love the process of bloom to seed pod and this morning the sun lit up the seed pod beautifully.

2   Our vegetable garden is coming on! We have Broad beans almost ready to harvest, Runner beans getting going, Shallots showing good growth and Onions coming on. The salad leaves have just come through. You’ll have to click on the photo to be able to see them in the far left raised bed.   The Clematis Montana is smothering the shed and the sky is simply blue!
