Cornish Lane, Mylor and Daffodils

We went to Mylor this morning to meet friends for a catch up and a delicious breakfast. The ancient trees along the way, the views and the dozens of daffodils along the way are all in the gallery. Click on any photo for a bigger view.

Harbour, Ducks and Nurdles

Once a month we have breakfast with dear friends, this time, on a beautiful morning, we were in Mylor by the harbour full of yachts.

On the drive home and on the way to Truro, we passed the duck bridge. No-one knows who put all the little plastic ducks on the bridge.

Taken from the moving car!

For the last few weeks there has been an online auction run by Truro Museum and Art Gallery. They have been raising money to run their Monday Museum Club. We saw the exhibition of the postcard sized art and I posted about it here.

The auction ended last Friday and we won two of the three pieces of art that we had fallen for. Here is Nurdle Seedheads by Michelle Costello of https://smartielidsonthebeach.co.uk

Frozen Cornwall

A friend sent me this beautiful piece of Nature’s art from inside his conservatory window.

Walking on the frozen sand today was a new experience. It made walking on the beach much easier than normal!

The video shows water flowing under the ice on Porthtowan Beach – listen to the waves behind me  rolling onto the beach

A local creek was frozen over too.

Evening Cloud, Water and Spider

Last night, in the South West, the setting sun lit up a cloud so that it glowed.

We had breakfast again with our lovely friends this morning in Mylor and this was the view as we were leaving.

On the drive home, we passed a delightfully creative display for Hallowe’en.

Autumn Lane, First View and Breakfast

The lanes down towards Mylor, where we were to meet friends for breakfast this morning, were still full of Autumn colour.

The first view of Mylor is always a delightful surprise.

Looking over Mylor Churchyard towards the water on a very cloudy, mizzly day.

My breakfast was scrumptious – Potato Rosti with asparagus, spinach, tomatoes and mushrooms with a poached egg and Hollandaise sauce.

Church, Chilli and Blue

Breakfast with our friends this month was at the cafe in Mylor – excellent menu and a well placed outdoor table with a view of the marina and a fresh sea breeze.  After breakfast we walked about the fascinating churchyard about which you can read more here.

Our chilies are reddening!

Hydrangeas are glorious around Cornwall at the moment, especially the blue ones.

Reflections and Our Concert

Just one picture for today, mast reflections taken last Saturday at Mylor.

Home late after a brilliant concert that was greatly appreciated by our packed audience in St Euny Church where the acoustics are wonderful. There may be photos later.

Krowji, The Pandora Inn and Mylor

Today has been so filled with beauty! First there was the beauty of human voices in harmony singing at Krowji’s Open studios event. Then of course, there was the beauty created by the artists in all sorts of media – such talent. For lunch we went down to The Pandora Inn (I had scallops, of course) and then on to Mylor, more water and the fascinating old graveyard there.

Weekly Photo Challenge – Letters 2

Imagine being the Stone mason who, 200 years ago, had to carve the letters into this gravestone which is in Mylor Churchyard, Cornwall.  What a story is herein told, especially by the graphic portrayal of the lightning, the waves and the boat  For more fascinating entries in this week’s Photo Challenge, click here.

Masts, Splashes and A Notable Gravestone

1   The morning started out full of sunshine and cerulean skies so we went to Mylor where the water just rippling was causing the reflections of the masts to create beautiful zig zags.

3   Isn’t it touching that, two hundred years on, people have marked the tragedy of the ship, Queen’s Transport, being wrecked off Trefusis Point on January 14th 1814? The stone itself is beautifully carved with the lightning, the stormy waves and the ship going down so graphically depicted.
