If you have been following my blog for the past ten days or so, you will realise that we have been here, there and everywhere! We have been showing my Brother-in-law the beauties of Cornwall and its culture and today just needed a catch up day and a rest!

Present, Cake Mixture and James Whitcomb Riley

I’ve been with some lovely friends this afternoon and D who has just returned from a trip to China brought us each a beautiful little bag to keep our creative bits and pieces in.

I’ve baked a Coffee and Pecan cake to take to an event tomorrow. I love creaming the butter and sugar!

I was looking for a poem about baking a cake and found this little delight which is the first verse of five.

Granny’s come to our house,
And ho! my lawzy-daisy!
All the childern round the place
Is ist a-runnin’ crazy!
Fetched a cake fer little Jake,
And fetched a pie fer Nanny,
And fetched a pear fer all the pack
That runs to kiss their Granny!

Littlest Live-wire arrives tomorrow for a few days and I am hoping she “runs to kiss her Granny”!

Chysauster, The Minack and As You Like It

A full and fabulous day. Please return tomorrow for the photos. Thank you for your patience.

There has been a settlement in Chysauster for over 2000 years. I just love walking around the nine houses in the settlement and imagining the lives of the families living there. Each house has several rooms that are clearly identifiable and a stone where it is thought grain was ground. There are drains and water courses………

After this delightful visit we went on to Mousehole, pronounced Mouzzle.

next stop was The Minack Theatre for a performance of As You Like It by the Ovo theatre group. It was set in 1967 and was fabulous!

Seed Head, Card and Lupins

Our very pretty blue clematis has finished blooming and now there are the most beautifully delicate seed heads.

This delightful card came in the post from Littlest Live-wire.

Our Lupins are flowering but we have been taken aback by the colour. We thought we bought white ones last summer!

Nelly Moser, Thrift Buy and Peggy Seeger

The weather has changed but just look how beautiful these Nelly Moser Clematis flowers are on the small terrace trellis.

In Floyd in North Carolina, in a thrift store, I bought a beautiful cockerel carved from one piece of wood by Brad Smith and it throws lovely shadows in the sitting room as the sun sets.

We are learning a beautiful new song, Love Call Me Home by Peggy Seeger, at choir. Tonight we got all four harmonies for the first verse and it is just lovely.

King Harry Ferry, St Anthony Head and Peregrine Falcons

This is one of our favourite walks around St Anthony Head looking across the water to Falmouth and St Mawes. Every time I get out and have a jolly good stomp, in my head I am saying Thank you to my surgeon, Mr Regan. It is such a joy to be able to move well and not to be frightened of doing a walk because of the pain. Here is a gallery of some of today’s treats for your delectation! Jeremy Corbyn, Newquay and Trevithick

What a day! To Newquay to hear Jeremy Corbyn, here in Cornwall for the first time, then to The Acorn Penzance to see Kernow King’s Trevithick, a joyful comedy telling the life story of the Cornish genius and engineer, Richard Trevithick.

Krowji, The Pandora Inn and Mylor

Today has been so filled with beauty! First there was the beauty of human voices in harmony singing at Krowji’s Open studios event. Then of course, there was the beauty created by the artists in all sorts of media – such talent. For lunch we went down to The Pandora Inn (I had scallops, of course) and then on to Mylor, more water and the fascinating old graveyard there.
