Glass, Pudding and A Surprise

We bought ourselves a present for our Anniversary (51 years today), a beautiful piece showing the Nearly Home Trees that we love so much.

The Nearly Home Trees

We have come out for a delicious meal cooked by someone else! The dessert we both chose was Chocolate Fondant.

After our scrumptious dessert we were presented with the following which we are saving to enjoy tomorrow.

Baby Sitting, Wedding Anniversary and a Walk

1   We are not really allowed to call it ‘baby-sitting’ but we have had the Grandkids to ourselves for 24 hours to give their Mum and Dad a welcome break! We’ve had the loveliest time and to wake up to little voices calling, “Can we get up now, Granny?” is a delight, happening as it does, only rarely! We made Pain au Chocolat for breakfast together.

2  It’s our 46th Wedding Anniversary today! We gave our parents 6 weeks notice of our intention to marry and no-one turned a hair! I made my dress and the bridesmaid dress for my little sister, she of the 60th birthday a couple of days ago, and Mum and I did all the catering, except for the icing of the cake which a friend did! We were awfully young!  I wore the Family Locket, of course.Wedding Day 26th August 1967

3    We had a lovely walk with the grandchildren and daughter No1 today, Skype with our son and his wife in Barcelona and then a meal out tonight with family – what a beautiful day to celebrate 46 years together!

‘May Your Home ….’, Truro and Garden Art

1    This morning I found a scrap of paper on which I had written: ‘ May your home always be too small to hold all your friends.’ I’ve just looked it up and find it is an old Irish blessing which seems rather serendipitous given that today is St Patrick’s Day! Happy Day to all of you out there with any Irish in your blood (like me!)

2  We’ve spent the day in Truro where I did much of my growing up. I love this hexagonal post box and Walsingham Place and even the concrete car park becomes attractive when Mr S calls ‘Psst’ from near the top!

3  We have  several sculptures in our garden. This one is ‘Copper Rook’, whom we call Muker as that is the name of the village in North Yorkshire where we bought him on our Wedding Anniversary in 2000. He was made by Michael Kusz and we love him! This one’s for you, David Heilman. Hope you like it.
