Marmalade, Lily and A New Outfit

We ran out of home-made Marmalade but had 700g of Sevilles frozen so we spent the morning making Marmalade, remembering my lovely Dad, as always, as he was the marmalade maker throughout my childhood and beyond.

One of the white Lilies opened this morning – very beautiful.

The stall nearest to me yesterday was Love Betty where Kate sells up-cycled clothes, new items made from old ones and I bought one.

The top part is bluer than it looks here, the ‘white’ panels are pale green and the whole thing, made from five items, is very pretty.

A Gift, New Glass and Waves

To my delight a small parcel arrived this morning. I knew what was going to be inside as one of my Dear Readers had very kindly offered to send me some sea-glass and here it was! The colours are so delicate – whites, greens, some blues and a precious bit of red and another of turquoise. The darker colours are shades of green when held up to the light.

Sea Glass from Seaham Beach

I set to straightaway to make a new piece of my stained glass project adding the sea glass as well as up-cycling some jewellery that I had found in a charity shop. It needs some refining but here it is. Huge thanks to Judith and her thoughtful generosity.

Today’s work, hanging

It’s a full moon tonight and high tide was about 5pm so we went to see the waves at Portreath, always at their best at full moon. They were magnificent!

Crochet, Beads and One Bloom

Our walk into town today took us past Evie’s Cafe where they had spread out onto the street with their colourful chairs and tables. It being quite chilly, they had thoughtfully provided crochet rugs for everyone!

Rugs to warm the customers

Since I started my glass work,  I’ve been popping into each Charity shop hoping to find some pretty earrings, beads or bracelets that I can up-cycle. Today I found a gem, well, several gems in one bracelet and all for 50p. I’m very pleased. If any of my local readers have any such items they can spare, please let me know. You can find my first piece here.

Beady bracelet

The beautiful bouquet that the lovely Mr S received for his birthday 12 days ago have gone to be recycled – all but this one beautiful bloom which is in a special one flower display piece that we bought many years ago at Salts Mill in Yorkshire.
