1 We had some lovely making sessions today, first some arty plates and later some star flapjacks, lots of singing, especially Skinnymarinka and lots of stories including ‘The Dogs’ Bottoms’ and ‘My Cat Likes to Hide in Boxes.’ Recipe for best-ever flapjacks to be found here.

3 On our walk this afternoon we saw these mugs on a wall. There have been workmen in our street all day and one of our kind neighbours gave them coffee.

I got hooked on flapjacks (and Sainsbury’s oat and raisin biscuits) on my last visit, but sadly can’t get them here. All recipes so far have failed miserably, so I’ve fallen on this with cries of delight!

Hello, the crucial thing is not to cook them too long and to have the mixture deep enough in the tin. Then they are gooey and delicious. I put a bit more than a pinch of ginger. Hope they work for you too. Do put a comment on that blog if you make them and they work – it’s my daughter’s! 🙂
