St Michael’s Mount, Windsurfer and Sunset

We had hoped to see the Marazion murmuration this evening but the wind was far too strong and the starlings just flew in in small groups and went straight to roost in the reeds. There was still beauty to be found!

St Michael’s Mount, Rainbow and Tonight’s Murmuration

Our walk was from Marazion towards Penzance today with the aim of being back by Marazion Marsh to witness the murmuration at dusk this evening. The clouds were beautiful, a rainbow appeared in part and disappeared almost as quickly and then the Starlings started arriving in small murmurations building to thousands upon thousands. It is hard to capture the magic, the thrill for you but here is a short video to give you a flavour.

Peace Exhibition, VW Camper Van and Junk Yard

1   We went to Marazion today to a fascinating exhibition put on by the local Quaker group.

There was a very moving and informative display which told of the experiences of three local Quakers and their harrowing dilemmas with the peace testimony. Through poetry, photos, quotations and sculpture, attitudes to peace and war were examined and the role of the Conscientious Objector made clear. If you are one of my local readers, do go along. It’s on for four more days and is well worth your time.

2   When there, walking along the front, we saw a VW Camper van all decked out for a wedding and the wedding party were on the beach.

3   On our way home, we called in at our favourite reclamation yard, Shiver Me Timbers, always full of quirky objects and today was no different. Click on any photo for an enlargement.

On the way home we passed this beautiful Cornish Cottage.

Primroses, Magnolia and A Man With A Dog

1  Walking into town today, the first time in several weeks, the hedgerows are suddenly full of delicately pale primroses. This bank of primroses is on the hill up to the Library.

2    Coming back up the lane a Magnolia was in full flower, glorious against the blue sky. The sun was warm this morning too.

3   We had a walk on the sands at Marazion this afternoon (though by that time the sun had gone in)  almost the only people on that stretch away from the causeway apart from a man with his dog, their left feet in unison!
