This Post Is For My Beautiful Sister On The Occasion Of Her Special Birthday!

Firstly, for my lovely little Sister who lives so far from the UK in Hawaii, a bunch of flowers to remind you of Cornish hedgerows in August, full of orange Montbretia and wild fuchsia (as well as some Sweet peas from our garden.)

Next, a lovely photo I found recently of you with one of your sons and our lovely Dad, taken around Dad’s 89th birthday.

and, almost last, a reminder of a special day that you won’t remember – your Christening. The photo was taken in the garden of Creek Vean, Pill Creek, Feock,  the first house we lived in when we moved to Cornwall. I still have the Christening dress that all of us wore in turn and Mum and her brother wore before us almost 100 years ago!

and lastly sending you all our love. Be happy, be loved and be special.

Twin Insurance, More Daffodils and Come-to-Good

Twin Insurance, More Daffodils and Come-to-Good

1   Found the “‘Twins” Insurance Certificate today, taken out on March 22nd 1977 when, at 8 weeks pregnant, I was absolutely certain that I was pregnant with twins but my GP thought I was stupid!

My lovely Mum and Dad bought us this policy as we couldn’t afford it and when our twins were born in September, the money bought us bunk beds for the two older children (one 4 and the other 20 months) and a tumble drier to dry all those nappies! For those much younger than I am, there were no scans then so no-one could be sure (except me!)  You can see a photo of my twins at nearly 2 on Feb 28th.

2   We went to Trelissick  today to find, by chance, the Cornish Daffodil Exhibition. My regular readers will know how much I love daffodils. Here there were more than I have ever seen before.

3   The Quaker Meeting House at Come-to-Good, near Feock, is a beautiful, peaceful place. The only sound was that of bird song coming through the open door. It’s hard to say what the place does for us but we both love it.

Sisters, Brothers and a Daughter

Sisters, brothers and Mum with Pill Creek, Feock behind

1  This is my sister and my brothers with our Mum in the garden at Creek Vean, our first home in Cornwall. I was reminded of this photo after yesterday’s conversation about sisters. It was the day of her christening.

2  My older brother sent a delightful email which made me smile.

3  Lucy, our youngest daughter, has been packing all day for her adventure trekking in Nepal. She has also booked her tickets for Senegal to be at Daniel and Ami’s wedding.
