Reflections, Gig and Bunting

We parked on the quayside in Falmouth before going to a Femmes de la Mer gig which was on to mark the launch of their cd. The reflections in the harbour were lovely.

Femmes de la Mer

It was a brilliant evening, lovely harmonies, shanties and other songs with a feminist slant and, in the audience, Harry Glasson, the writer/composer of Cornwall My Home, regarded by many as the Cornish Anthem.

Several of my friends are in a wonderful singing group called Femmes de La Mer and, as the name suggests, they sing songs of the sea, shanties and others. They did a concert in the wonderful setting of The Minack Theatre last night and here is one of my favourite pieces.  I’ll be seeing them next week at another outdoor venue. Do click on the link, you’ll love it I’m sure, though I’m not sure if it will work if you aren’t on Facebook. Please let me know as I will try another way to share.

Shanty Festival, Two Heads and Goodbye

The Falmouth Shanty Festival is enormous fun and we all went along to watch some friends who sing as Femmes de la Mer. They were brilliant! Of course!

Femmes de la Mer, Stone and Fireplace

This weekend sees the fabulous Sea Shanty Festival in Falmouth and we went over this afternoon especially to see Femmes de la Mer who are a bunch of wonderful women with whom I sing on Thursday mornings. Their singing was  just fabulous with lovely harmonies and drew the biggest crowd we saw all afternoon.

Here is a snippet of them singing before my battery died and I moved to my other camera.

After watching and listening to them we called in at a delightful little cafe, Ragamuffin, for coffee and the most scrumptious cakes. They made us very welcome and accommodated the pushchair with great courtesy.  The table markers were charming and ……
