Holiday, Pond and Growth

We’ve been on holiday! We have just had three nights away in a very lovely converted barn in the most beautiful of places only about six miles away. That’s where we saw the very special sheep, the Blue Texels and did the magical walk. It’s where some weeks ago, going to Ti’s 102nd birthday,  we saw the sign warning of ducks crossing the road and yesterday we met them.

The place we stayed belongs to dear friends and is  where we helped to plant 800 trees just over a year ago and where they have a wonderful pond that is teeming with wildlife. The Lily pads and the clouds reflection in the water were looking lovely and G discovered an empty dragonfly case that was truly beautiful.

Coming home, we were amazed by the amount of growth that had happened in just three days both in the garden – Lily of the Valley in full flower – and in the poly tunnel at the allotment where the leeks are suddenly several centimetres tall. I love the way they come up bent in half and then suddenly straighten up and double in size.

Walk Near Restormel Castle

My favourite camera died some months ago and I just didn’t get around to sorting it by post when I couldn’t get to the shop. Last weekend I decided to find out about replacing it. A local shop where we have bought things in the past had the camera I wanted for £149 as they have decided not to keep so many in stock for some reason. My first foray into finding the camera I wanted brought up the price of £407! So today, we headed off to St Austell to pick up the bargain and from there went to two garden nurseries and then for a walk. Join us as we leave the Duchy Nursery and head towards Restormel Castle. Click on any photo to see a bigger picture. So happy to have a Nikon Coolpix again, just have to charge it up……..

Early Morning, A Walk and Pondlife

We have so enjoyed our night away and this silver sea was our view this morning as we drew the curtains.

Early morning view from our room

The walk through the gardens is beautiful and at the bottom of the gardens is the beach. We turned right along the South West coastal path and had an excellent stomp with beautiful views.

View from our walk

We spent the afternoon sitting by the hotel pond reading and trying to take photos of the dragonflies. I just managed by using sport mode on my camera.

Beautiful Creatures Found in One Garden in Nepal, October 2012

All these were seen in two cafe gardens where we stopped off for a drink on the long coach journey between Chitwan National Park and Pokhara. If anyone can help me to identify them I would be absolutely delighted!
