1 My lovely sister, Deborah, in Hawaii sent me this delightful photo of a Tibetan child laughing, designed to make anyone smile.

2 Lucy walked for 6 hours today as part of her training for her trek in Nepal. We drove down to Porthtowan and walked a short way with her.
3 We Skyped with Ami, Daniel’s fiance, in Senegal this afternoon. Her English is getting better, I’m doing better with my French and Daniel, online from Barcelona, taught us a bit of Wolof! Since we haven’t met Ami yet, Skype is brilliant for helping us all get to know each other before we really meet in April. We are so looking forward to it and Ami is going to help Lucy and me buy appropriate outfits for the celebrations!

1 We’ve booked our flights to Senegal for Daniel and Ami’s wedding!
2 Fabulous singing with the Inglehearts tonight and a super offer from the husband of a choir member. His firm have offered to sponsor the sending to Mapoch of all the balls I’ve collected from friends. I’ve been collecting balls from deodorant roll-ons and plastic rolls from printers since Mr S and I did our volunteering in 2007 (building a classroom) and sending them all out to the Gogos (Grannies) who bead them into the most beautiful decorations.

This year no new volunteers were able to take them out for me as people have done in the past and they were going to cost about £90 to post! Consequently I only sent a few and the lovely people who’ve been collecting were very disappointed. Thanks to P, it seems as if all the rest might be able to be sent – brilliant!
3 I’ve been booked for a Baby Naming Ceremony in July! Delighted! They are such lovely individual ceremonies to do.

1 It was so good to get back to singing again and even Claire asking us to dance did not dim my enjoyment! I knew I’d been missing the singing and my singing friends but hadn’t realised quite how much!
2 I saw my hip man this afternoon and he thinks I can put off the replacements indefinitely but says I can ask to see him whenever I want to, if I’m in pain again, and he’ll see me quickly and look after me. It was Joe the osteopath who fixed my hips last June – magic!
3 We Skyped briefly with Daniel and Ami and began to discuss wedding arrangements but we’ve lost the signal from Senegal. The photo is of our beautiful soon-to-be daughter-in-law, Ami.

1 It wasn’t an early morning! Jake slept until 8am and then rustled and chatted while his Mum and Dad listened at the door! Jake was pleased the oats had gone.
2 After present giving , we went for a very windswept and welcome walk on Porthtowan Beach and had a late lunch. Lots of help from Lucy and her friend Mobin (who is spending today and tomorrow with us) was very welcome indeed. We used some of Mum and Dad’s Wedding present china for the bread sauce and the gravy, as we do every year, so that they are with us for Christmas dinner.
3 Daniel called from Senegal and we all spoke to him and to Ami, which was lovely. We’ll all have to brush up our French before the wedding!

Giving out the presents
1 I spent a busy and productive morning making mountains of mincepies of all sizes and many, many mini sausage rolls and cheesy whirls.
2 Our lovely eldest daughter has come home today to be with us just overnight so we’ve had a mini Christmas afternoon, exchanging presents. Jake made a splendid present deliverer. Dinner in Mikki’s honour was the wonderful Flemish Beef.
3 Just as we were finishing our meal, Daniel, our lovely son rang up from Barcelona. He’ll be in Senegal for Christmas with his fiancee, Ami. He must have heard the toast to him and Ami we had just made! We are about to sit around now with our mulled wine and play games, both grandchildren being safely tucked up.
