Croissants, Poem and Dust

1   We love croissants and usually keep them for special occasions. Every Birthday Breakfast has croissants! We have recently taken to having them, just now and then, for our breakfast and what a treat they are!

2  This delightful little poem came my way the other day and I saved it until we had croissants for breakfast!

Petit Dejeuner – Linda Pastan

I sing a song
of the croissant
and of the wily French
who trick themselves daily
back to the world
for its sweet ceremony.

Ah to be reeled
up into morning
on that crisp,
buttery
hook.

3   I was delighted to find this cobweb today – I love the way it seems to be the lead between the woman and her dog as they both look for his ball in the hole. Copper sculpture by Jeremy Beswick.

Three Wise Monkeys, Othello and Bubbles

1   My Three Wise Monkeys sculpture, made in copper especially for me by the artist, Jeremy Beswick, some years ago, has today been put up on the wall by Mr S.  I grew up with three carved wooden monkeys but they didn’t end up with me so I had some made!  The Three Wise Monkeys “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil”

2   What a treat! Shakespeare’s Othello has been on BBC Radio 4 this afternoon and I’ve been planting up my monkey sculpture with the radio close by. Lenny Henry was brilliant as Othello in this Northern Broadsides production.

3   Beautiful bubbles have been blowing over the fence from next door’s 5 year old having fun. 🙂  Click on the photo to enlarge and see the bubbles clearly.

Bubbles, caught on camera!

Lily of the Valley, Copper Sculpture and ‘The Giant’

1    The Lily-of-the -Valley that I planted last week in Kath’s memory are putting up shoots already. If you look really closely top right of the photo, you can even see tiny flower buds.

2   I love this small copper sculpture, ‘The Lost Ball’,  made by the very talented artist Jeremy Beswick.    It is one of several of his that we have and I love them all.

3    I went next door with some Nutella meringues (they were so light, the wind nearly blew them off the plate!) and in exchange had ‘The Giant’ signed by the sculptors who just happen to be our lovely neighbours.
