We were due to go for a tea party this afternoon so I spent a happy morning baking Brownies and then constructing a Brownie Mountain to take with us.

It was such a lovely afternoon in a cottage in the grounds of Heligan and on the wall was this sign – just perfect for that household!

When I saw this delightful nativity scene this afternoon when my choir were singing at a wedding, it seemed to be to be an appropriate seasonal gathering.

One of my choirs, The Ingleheart Singers, sang this afternoon at the Wedding of one of our singers which was just lovely and so joyful. Afterwards, I was able to get a photo of the Bride, the Groom and some of her charming bridesmaids.

There was a beautiful nativity scene in the Chapel, all hand-knitted with such care. Here is the Angel.

On the way out, on the old concrete path, I noticed a handprint and a name, I guess of someone laying the path around the side of the building in 1996!

On our walk delivering local Christmas cards this afternoon, it was really easy spotting beautiful things. In a nearby garden we saw purple cabbages, one of which carried raindrops.

Later, on one of the outbuildings of the old vicarage, there was a delightful weather vane which looks like someone running away from a Trevithick engine! Isn’t the curly smoke delightful?

Just around the corner, at the bottom of the hedge was this beautiful mauve fungus that I am hoping someone, T maybe, will be able to identify for me.

After singing today, it being the last this year, we all went out for lunch. Here is our beautiful choir leader, Claire, delighted with the Spa Day voucher we have just given to her in gratitude for all she gives us through her music.

I love having an Advent Candle and watching it get smaller as Christmas gets closer.

I plan on wearing my Kantha jacket this evening. It is made from recycled saris and gets its name from the tiny running stitches which both strengthen it and give it its design and which are called Kantha. I love the design, the colours and the fact that it has had a previous life in another country!

Is this a pony and trap? Whatever, it was fun to watch the pattern of the hooves change as we followed this vehicle on the road to Truro.I’m hoping that those who know will tell me about the foot pattern and if it is a pony or a horse!

We went to visit some very old friends this afternoon. They have known me since I was a little girl and were very good friends of my parents. We love hearing their stories, this time of C’s early life in America and on the farm in Townshend. We took along some cheery Tete a Tete bulbs in flower and some of my mini mince pies.

Well, that’s four dozen mini mince pies and a dozen big ones made today. They all have orange pastry like my Mum used to make. It adds a certain something not quite discernible to the pies which makes them even more delicious than usual. I so love spending a whole day baking! These three leaves seemed to have positioned themselves for me! I like the way they have fallen, their colours and the way the raindrops magnify the veins in such a magical manner. Click on the photo to see the magnification of the veins.

I rather think I added too much brandy to the mincemeat mixture and, oops! It has boiled over! They are very sticky and they are delicious. I have only had one of the mini ones, honestly, just to make sure they are okay. One poor angel has lost her head and looks more like a ghost!

Last night we were in Plymouth at a fabulous concert by Caro Emerald. What a presence! What a band of musicians, playing at least 15 instruments between the six of them and Caro Emerald’s voice and songs – a truly fabulous evening full of music and dancing. What a thoroughly happy evening – and we stayed over in a hotel!
Driving home through the tunnel after crossing the Tamar back into Cornwall, I was taken with the lights reflected in the metallic sides of the tunnel.
