Rain, Mint and Happiness

1    I don’t mind the rain at all! I love raindrops on flowers and the serendipity of reflections that turn up.

2   Our lovely neighbour gave us some just-dug new potatoes and I cooked them with mint. Today I used the very pretty Variegated Mint from our herb garden.

Bug, Boody and Blossom

1   I found a bug on the Fuchsia and was delighted to see that its eyes were the same pink as the flower!

2    This is my boody garden. In the dialect of 19th century Northumberland, ‘boody’ referred to broken china. I discovered this at Tate Britain last week when we went to the  exhibition of folk art. Now I have a name for my little garden where my favourite broken pottery is saved. There is a beautiful old plate, half a tea-pot, a piece of terracotta from a bread crock and handles from a beautiful piece of Jane Hamlyn pottery and I just love it, my ‘boody’ garden!

3   Our Jackmanii clematis is beginning to blossom.

We have had the happiest of days, the lovely Mr S, my brother and I, sitting in the garden in the sunshine and beginning to catch up on the three years since we last met. There hasn’t been a quiet moment!

Today’s Garden, On the Water and A View

1   Just a gallery today to show you what’s in flower at the beginning of July – and we have some Sugar Snap Peas almost ready to harvest! Click on any photo for more detail.

2   Some views from the boat across to Flushing and Trefusis Point.  We just went to practise ropes and sails, not to go out this afternoon.

3  This is the view from the supermarket in Penryn, across the Penryn River.

2   We saw this magnificent Wolf Hound several times on our way around. He was greatly admired by many passers by.

3   I’m sure you can see why I couldn’t resist buying this beautiful beaker by Laura Lee!

If you have been following my blog, you will know that I have been very busy! I am sorry that I have not visited you all as much as usual and the next two weeks will be the same as my beloved older brother who lives in Munich is coming to stay. I haven’t seen him for three years! We are going to spend time photographing the beautiful county we grew up in – the coast and the buildings – and make a pilgrimage around all the places we lived – eight different addresses and two where Mum and Dad lived after we had all left home.
