Day Out in Penzance – Mermaid, Stone Sculptures, Egret and Architecture

04 Nov

1   I delight in finding lovely weather vanes and this mermaid looking in a mirror is one of the best.

2   Behind the Jubilee Pool in Penzance we spotted these stone sculptures and an egret fishing in the rock pools.

3  Penzance is full of charming buildings. Click on any photo for detail.

As an extra treat, have a look at this touching video sent to me this morning.https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=1888422568315

I love the mermaid weather vane. I have been to Penzance, but these pictures make me think I didn’t look closely enough, some lovely buildings which really evoke a sea-side setting.

Since I’ve been doing my blog, I notice more and more! It’s very interesting that people I’m with often point things out to me too. Thank you for calling in and taking the time to comment. Thanks to nablopomo that I found you. 🙂

We really like it there. It has shopping and galleries and the beach- what more could you want in one place? 🙂

As in the pirates of Penzance………honest, showing my ignorance here, I thought the name place was made up.

As in the pirates of, yes! We were part of a world record breaking attempt to get the most pirates in one place together in 2011! We did get the record. There were 8734 of us all dressed up, some with their parrots, some with their bands! It was somewhat surreal and enormous fun! 🙂

Have you seen the stone towers on the Scillies – several of the beaches there have them – my favourite is on the far end of St Agnes – the last beach before NewYork – with nothing but wind and waves ahead of them

We’ve only been to the Scillies once but no, we didn’t see any, sadly. Sorry to see that you’re on the move…….. At least you can follow the blog from anywhere!

makes you wonder who …put the stones in such a way…
anything to do with water is beautiful to me…
including the charming Mermaid admiring herself…

We wondered about the sculptor too. We also wondered how or if, they survive the tides. We’ll have to go back and check sometime soon…. 🙂

I saw the title and wondered if you saw some Pirates. Sadly, that is the only reference to Penzance that I know. I love the stone cairns.
