I grew up in Truro, Cornwall, and always loved the Cathedral. It seems to grow out of the centre of the city and dominates the skyline. On my birthday, New Year’s Eve, as quite a little girl, I was allowed to stay up to hear the Cathedral bells to ring in the New Year and we used to stand on the doorstep in the dark and listen to the chimes. I just loved this – so much so that when I was exiled in Yorkshire and after all our children had left home, we came to Truro for several New Year holidays just so that I could hear the bells. And now, happily, we have moved back home to Cornwall….. Click on any photo to see more detail.

More than any other picture, I like the rose wall because it was created by children. The church itself is impressive, but those little inhabitants of the church are the future…

Boy oh boy is our Truro NOTHING like yours. Ours is a tiny, almost rural. Little white clapboard churches. Little shops. Gardens. Lots of psychiatrists on vacation. Not a cathedral in sight.Great cathedral. I think you could fit the whole town of Truro, Massachusets in it.

It’s the Beacon I always stand in the train corridor to look out for. Slowly gliding across the viaduct into Truro, knowing I have family waiting on the platform to greet me after my long trek from Vermont.

Itwas just the same for me coming home from college each term. Mum and Dad would be there waiting for me and we never just went home to Treyew Road. Dad would ask, ” Perranporth or Castle Drive?”

This is a nice set of pictures. I’m pretty impressed with the internal shots and how noise free they are. I took a set of pictures in Hexham Abbey recently and needed to shoot at iso6400 which showed more noise that these.
