As I was collecting everything for making Carrot cakes this morning, I realised how beautifully colourful the whole process was from the nearly white flour with the spices in, to the taupe of the soft brown sugar, the golden yellow of the eggs with a swirl of burnt umber of vanilla to the deep orange of the mixture with flecks of brighter orange carrot to the shiny golden brown of the baked buns! All very beautiful!

These look yummy! Are those cupcake wrappers silicone or paper? Such interesting shapes! Now you have me thinking that I should pick a dish and photograph it as I go along. I think that I come to take advantage of my kitchen, moving through recipes on auto pilot and not appreciating the colors. I appreciate the smells! I just don’t pay enough attention to the colors. This post will change that!

I have red shallots planted, over wintering, and planting purple hot peppers next week. I’m also planting green tomatoes, yellow tomatoes, orange cauliflower, and, of course, Dahlias!

Sorry! forget to say – these are all silicone as I was making them for home consumption! When I bake for others, I use paper – and there are some delightful paper ones these days too.
