Wild Waves, De-Stress and Comic Relief Baking

06 Feb

1   Portreath in wild winds today. My photos don’t do the force of the wind or the wildness of the waves proper justice so I’ve posted a couple of photos of the same place from a sunny day last July. They might show you the contrast and help you imagine the gusts that almost blew us over, the salt in our mouths and the spray with which we were doused!

2  I learned this today from a comment on Penny’s blog   “The quieting reflex: Take a deep breath in, and when you exhale, smile! This not only relieves stress, but if you are feeling negative yourself, it makes it disappear!” I tried it and it works.

3   I’m baking in good time to make funds for Comic Relief on 15th March. These Double Chocolate Mini Muffins with Red Noses are to sell to The Suitcases at singing tomorrow.

PS Is there someone out there who can tell me how I stamp my name onto a photo to mark it as mine?  I’ve been made aware today that Google just help themselves to any image we post on our blogs (See Teepee’s post here) and I would like my photos at least to be identified as mine!

Wonderful images of the rough and ready sea. I know what you mean about trying to do it justice, it’s so hard to capture the sea and its strength and sheer power, and of course in a photo you can’t hear that huge NOISE!

That’s right! Nor feel the force buffeting nor the salty spray. It was magnificent and made us think especially of those who live their working lives on that sea.
All the best to you 🙂

Wow! That top pic is stunning!
    (And the muffins look delicious.)

If you use photoshop, you can add a semi-opaque layer on top of the pic with whatever info you want. It will show on top of the pic without overwhelming it.

What a fantastic sea, I really miss the wild wild seas of Scotland, we don’t get the ferocity in the mediterranean! Sally, this link might help you, it’s really important to watermark your pictures especially good ones like your photos, it’s not just Google that will nick them, some people will not think twice about helping themselves to a picture they like! Here’s the link – http://www.ehow.com/how_2106679_watermark-photo.html Time-consuming, but worth it x An easier way is just to upload your pictures to Pixlr, add your name in text then download to your computer, but the watermarked ones will be better I think. The wild waves look wonderful… I can never resist a storm and the thunder of the water…your double choc muffins look positively mass-produced, they all look so perfect…

Showing photos from the two different seasons really shows the size of the waves well. Good idea!

Great Post, love the photos, and thank you for the mention. Barb’s advice is excellent. Did you know that for those who live near the beach, when sitting and watching ocean waves crashing or any kind of ocean/nature activity where you feel/taste the mist, hear the ocean and see it as well – when you take deep breaths and then slowly let them out, the body’s ability to absorb the oxygen is greatly increased because so many parts of your own body are experiencing natures elements. No I do not make this up. It is true my friend, Give it a try. Actually works anywhere in nature! Enjoy the day my friend! 🙂

My pleasure. It works great for me, also those who do outdoor sports where they are right out there in nature tend to be radiantly healthy! 🙂

The sea pictures are all beautiful. But I am glad I am only looking at the wild waves in a picture instead of for real.
I had to do the deep breathing exercise even while looking at the picture of the waves. lol
