A Gift, Long Tailed Tits and Lunch with My Brother

23 Jul

1   I have woken to find this posting from a lovely ex-student of mine and it has made my day!  He says,” Your philosophy of teaching I would say…x”

2   As I walked round the garden this morning, I became aware that the bird feeder was full of young Long Tailed Tits. I stood absolutely still and watched as they came and went,10 of them in the feeders at one point but I didn’t have my camera! Later, I caught just this one – so beautiful and such an amazing few moments!

3   We met P&V at the beautiful, restored-after-its-fire, Pandora Inn on Restronguet Creek for lunch. When I went to place our order, the bar person said, ‘Sorry, you must have your table number wrong, someone else has just ordered on that number, ‘ and I was able to say, ‘No, that was my brother. He was just ordering too.’  How lovely to be able to say that, my brother is here! He is ordering too! It is so lovely to have him and V here for so long!

We’re out tonight so I’m posting earlier than usual. Happy days everyone!

Lovely pictures as always! I especially like the quote, I wish my son’s one teacher read that years ago, he was a horrid teacher and damaged his self image…but today he is coming out and emerging into the young man God had intended him to be. I saw first hand what happens when someone teaches by force, hatred and harshness. ~ Blessings – Patty
PS I see your brother brought summer to England for you – now can he bring back some rain to the US?!! 😀 So happy you all had a great time.

I’m always sad to hear this kind of story. So much damage can be done and I wonder why some people choose to teach. Our eldest also had a bad time with one particular teacher and it is horrible for your child and for you.
In my last ten years as a teacher, I trained those coming into the profession and tried very hard to instil Plato’s philosophy without knowing that that was what I was doing. It was just the Sally Smith way of doing things! Above all be kind, be fair and be mad! (Make A Difference) 🙂
I am very happy that your son is blossoming 🙂

Thank you – he had some very good teachers that took him under their wings and a Drill Sgt that brought out the best in him. We thank God for these role models for him and thank you for being the kind of teacher that is loving and caring. I like your little saying – a good thing to live by. 😉 Blessings ~ Patty

Those words by Plato are absolutely marvellous.

You are so amazingly busy and “out there” every day. I swear to God, I have never “met” – well, say known, anyone who lives their life so full. Although Amy who comments on my blog – she is living very full at the moment (though it’s only a holiday).

    WONDERFUL.

I am so lucky to have my brother nearby for these two weeks. P&V brought Summer from America with them and we are making it into a holiday too.
Thank you for your kind words! 🙂

Ahh, the Pandora. My late brother Jon lived on one of his boats nearby while he was converting it, which made the pub handy-by for WCs among other uses! Also a favourite pub of my father’s. Your lunch would be my choice too.

How lovely that you have such memories of The Pandora. It has been beautifully restored. We’ve known it for 40+ years and it really hasn’t been changed. They’ve done a wonderful job.
All the best to you 🙂

Thank you so much, Nia. It is so lovely to have my brother here. He lives in America and I haven’t seen him or V for 8 years!
Love to you, have a good evening 🙂
