Calm Waters, Every Day and Moon

The water of the Penryn River was so still this morning.

Thought I’d try black and white and liked this one.

It’s five years since I last posted the following words, still pertinent.

I published a couple of hours ago thinking the clouds would stop me seeing the Super Moon tonight but they  cleared a little and here is the Hunter’s Moon for you.

Image taken through the double glazed window.

For this one I went out of the back door to get a clearer image.

I do love to see the full moon.

R W Emerson, Primroses and Euphorbia

1    I heard this on the radio this morning and really liked it.

To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded. Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803 – 1882) American Essayist & Poet

2   I went out in the front garden today and did some pruning and some weeding. It is such a very long time since I was able to do such simple things and it gave me great pleasure. Our Spring garden is looking lovely with Daffodils, three colours of Primroses and some Wallflowers.

3    There was a most attractive plant in the Flowerpot carpark in town today. I think, after some research, that it is a Euphorbia characias ‘Black Pearl’

3   The pile of pieces for Wool Against Weapons keeps growing, thanks to my friends who are knitting too. Two more pieces have joined the pile, one from Marilyn and one from Margaret so we are now up to ten. We are going to start joining them together soon, prior to our knit-in in Truro soon.

Ten pieces in the pile -seven more on the way.....

Tulips, Ralph Waldo Emerson and Bird House

1   The cream and white tulips in my Suffragette garden are  looking beautiful with raindrops decorating them.

2   A friend sent me a quotation from Ralph Waldo Emerson today which I really liked. Here it is for you.

live in the sunshine

Having now looked him up, I find there are many, many of his thoughts that I appreciate. I think his words will feature here again.

3   The bird house that we put up last Spring has residents! It looks as if a Blue tit couple has approved it. We have seen them coming and going over the last few days and are very hopeful that they will make it their family home.
