Red Berries, Blackberries and Plum Cake

28 Sep

The red berries along our walk this morning were startlingly bright.

There are still lots of Blackberries and they are  very sweet and delicious.

We decided we need some cake!  The Plum, Almond and Chocolate Cake that I made once before in plum season was the one we decided on.  In 2012 when I first made this one, I called it Happy Cake as it contains lots of tryptophan!  You can find the recipe by clicking on the red link.

My Winterberry has beautiful red berries against the dark green leaves – beautiful. My blackberries had a tough year. Someone ate their leaves while another someone ate all the berries. I’m fencing them in for the winter and hoping for a better 2021 season. But, that cake not only looks beautiful but is a piece of art. Hope it was as good to eat as it looks. 🙂

It is! However , being full of tryptophan, we have re-named it Sleepy cake as we both needed a nap after our first slice. Second day’s slice we had in the evening instead of early afternoon! 🙂
