1 I heard this on the radio this morning and really liked it.
To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded. Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803 – 1882) American Essayist & Poet
3 There was a most attractive plant in the Flowerpot carpark in town today. I think, after some research, that it is a Euphorbia characias ‘Black Pearl’

To succeed in even of few of Emerson’s suggestions would indeed be an accomplishment.

Yes, it would. I think he means succeeding in one or more rather than every one – that would be quite a challenge! 🙂

What a beautiful Euphorbia – just like black pearls. Great contrast of black and chartreuse.

Lovely name for a rather lovely flower. I haven’t liked most Euphorbia I have seen but this one is lovely. Thank you for calling in and commenting. 🙂

The Euphorbia characias ‘Black Pearl’ looks interesting. I have yet to tackle the garden,. I think there is one somewhere under the weeds. A mishap with a cafetiere of hot coffee changed my plans and the kitchen needed to be washed down. Who knew a one cup pot held so much liquid? Maybe tomorrow…..!

Oh, no! I am always amazed at how much there is when there is a spill! Who knew how much a dishwasher held until it decided to put the water on the floor? (Years ago – but just remembered!) The trouble with Spring is that the weeds wake up too and they are a bit like a one cup coffee pot – there are so many more of them than can be imagined! 🙂

I’ve never seen anything like the Black Pearl. It’s really very interesting and unique. 🙂

Surprising isn’t it? I haven’t liked Euphorbias before but I do like this one. 🙂
