1 Spring can’t be too far away. The days are longer and the Spring flowers showing their colours.

2 The water from cooking some purple sprouting broccoli was so beautiful. Even the scratches on this 46 year old Pyrex bowl make a pretty design!

3 A few days ago we cleared out the overgrown herbs and today the lovely Mr S has replanted and it’s looking good! There are three kinds of Thyme to add to the others already in the wall, further around the curve – Lemon Thyme, a prostrate variety called Pink Ripple and a variegated one called Foxley – and a Sage that will have white flowers. I take a special delight in the Saffron Crocuses which have already flowered this year but the Nursery assures me there will be some Saffron to harvest next year! I’ll be able to make Saffron Buns with our own saffron!

There is a book that I once read, the story itself did not take me though it was well written. The title was what attracted me to buy it: ?if nobody speaks of remarkable things’.

(I do not have a garden and five floors down to the outside..) Rosemary is important to me, basil(basel) I would like parsley and maybe oregano? I would be grateful for any tips if you have any. I believe that saffron costs more than gold by it’s weight 🙂

What a splendid title! I suppose what I’m trying to do is speak of the unremarkable to make them remarkable. Thank you for your lovely comments.
I learned my love of herbs, growing and cooking, from my Mum. I’d be tempted to buy little plants rather than try from seeds. The basil, parsley and oregano would be good all together in a window box but I would think the rosemary would be best on its own as it will go on year after year whereas the others die down each year.
I’m a little sceptical about getting any saffron but we live in hope! 🙂

Yes it will! The curved wall is around a small patio where we have our table. It’s a lovely place to sit when the sun shines.

I’m glad you like my Spring photos. Our temperatures are not very Springlike at the moment! About 0* with a windchill factor that makes it feel like -6 and -10 promised next week. We’re not used to it! 🙂
