Autumn Leaves, Autumn Fruits and The Last of Our Lettuce

15 Oct

1   The leaves are falling fast and they glisten beautifully in the rain.

Leaves on the drive

Beautiful Maple across the road

2   Our fruit bowl is full of beautiful Autumn produce and the garden full of fruits for the birds.

3   We’ve picked the very last of our lettuce today and planted the over-wintering green manure seeds to help the fertility of the ground next year.

Lovely to see you back again – I thought I’d lost you! I tried to get on to your blog some time ago and couldn’t so I’ll try again now.
Sorry for the delay in replying, been away in India and Nepal on the most magical holiday!
      Happy days to you 🙂

Have you noticed Autumn coming on slower each year in the U.K.? Here in the USA it’s October 16th and my flowers are blooming, the weather is warm and all of the leaves on the trees are still green like in summer. We definitely have global warming here. How about where you are?

Your cotoneaster is beautiful! I’ve never had any luck with them. My death count so far is 3.

Aha, so there are at least two of us who appreciate brown, shriveling leaves. The lettuce pic reminds me that I planted some about a month ago. I wonder if it will survive the cold and be there for me when I return home later in October.

We’ve had some lovely colour here but so much rain that it’s been hard to enjoy!
