Sculpture, Blue and A Pie

Our eldest daughter came today to help my lovely Mr S move our very heavy Finger Labyrinth sculpture a few feet.  It has been tricky mowing around it  so now it’s at the edge of a flower bed and a new lawn will be sown where it was. It looks much better where it is now.
My next job will be to find plants to grow at the base that won’t grow too high to obscure the carved words. I shall start researching an evergreen, low growing shrub that has flowers, maybe scent……

Gladiolus, New Patch and Produce

We love our Gladioli.

The lovely Mr S has been working on this patch of garden for some time, first taking down the Pitisporum hedge that had outgrown us and our trimming abilities, replaced it with a curved picket fence, sowed new grass and planted some climbers to go along the fence and today, uncovered our sculpture and re-oiled it. You might just make out the sweetcorn plants behind the fence in the one of the raised beds, just to the left of the carved sculpture. So pleased with it all!

Homegrown leeks and purple beans stir fried to go with our locally made sausages this evening.

Nelly Moser, Risotto and A Stranger

Our Nelly Moser is quite magnificent this year.

The lovely Mr S made us a very tasty Pepper and Pea Risotto with Crispy Chicken for tonight’s meal.

We have a stranger in the garden!  He reminds me of Darth Vader each time I catch a glimpse. It’s our  sculpture  covered up after sanding and prior to re-oiling to protect against the rain.

First Sweet Peas, Weather Vane and Labyrinth

We picked our first sweetly scented Sweet Peas today.

The sky was blue and the ship on the weather vane showed up well against the cloudless sky.

I love how the evening sun lights up the labyrinth.  A  few  moments  before,  the whole labyrinth  was  illuminated.
