Raindrops, Blue and A Jay

I always love seeing raindrops hovering on flower petals. Our Iris Reticulata, Harmony,  one of the miniature irises which we grow in old chimneys, were holding raindrops this morning.

In a bunch, their blue is quite magnificent.

We visited a friend today and saw a beautiful Jay through the window. Of the eight photos I took , this is the only one where it was still enough for a moment.

Raindrops, Spring Flowers and Green Glass

The raindrops are on the flowers. I love the way that drops hover around the edges catching the light and becoming nature’s jewels..

The stem on the Iris Reticulata was broken so I have brought it in and put in Mum’s green glass.

Poem, Spring and Gargoyle

This lovely poem has come my way by various sources over the last few days and I thought you, Dear Readers, might like it too.  Roger Robinson’s collection won the T.S. Eliot prize mentioned in this Guardian cutting as being shortlisted.  What excellent advice there is in this poem. Do carry your paradise with you always – it can be a life-saver.

There are signs of Spring in our garden.

Our first Iris Reticulata

Our son came home over New Year and cleared out lots of his stuff from our attic. He left us this delightful gargoyle which was a present for him from my Mum and Dad many years ago. It’s too heavy to post to Barcelona! Now it is visible from our kitchen window reminding me of some of  those people in my life whom I love.

Network Cornwall, Spring Flowers and Namche Bazaar to Khumjung

1  Been listening to my lovely Dad’s beautiful voice today! When, in 2004, he was given a terminal diagnosis, we spent time together recording some of the life stories he used to tell us. I haven’t listened to them before and I have now asked for help on Network Cornwall to get them transcribed. As usual, NC has come up trumps. Thank you.

2  In our garden today – miniature daffodils, tiny iris, delicate snowdrops and beautiful blue rosemary already in flower.

3  Lucy’s itinerary tells us that today she will have trekked from Namche Bazaar to Khumjung and they are now at 12,434ft .

Iris Reticulata, More Marmalade and Wheal Uny

Iris Reticulata

1  I was delighted today when Mr S spotted this Iris Reticulata in the wall today – one of my favourite flowers, so small and so perfect.

2  We made the next 10 jars of marmalade today. It was fun to know that, at the same time, John R was busy in his kitchen also listening to good music and making marmalade! Both our kitchens are full of that beautiful golden glow of newly minted marmalade!

3  Quite a late walk today up and around Wheal Uny. It was very pleasing that it was still light at 5.30pm
