We have an allotment! We have been on the list for some time and today we have come to the top. We have a starter plot, one third of a proper plot, to see how we go. We are on trial for 3 months and are very excited to get started and to be a part of this vibrant community. As you can see, there is some work to be keeping us busy.
Sadly, because of the Covid situation, the gallery where I have had my glass is closing. We are a co-operative and haven’t been able to open since the March lockdown. Today, I went to collect the pieces that were first put into the gallery for Valentine’s Day. Something good came out of this sadness though – I was so pleased to see my work and to remember how pretty it is and the fun I had making it all, that I am re-inspired to get on with more making! 
As we were so close to the sea while near the gallery, we went for a walk along the sea front and just loved the blues in the sea.

Enjoy your allotment – we had allotments near our last three homes and really enjoyed each one. The last one which we kept on for ten years until our involvement with the NGS strengthened was a real exciting experience as we were in the first batch of gardeners in a brand site. We were self-managed and together with a friend I designed its grounds and created a community garden. So much fun!1

How sad that the shop is closing. Those are lovely valentine pieces. Guess the allotment plot will keep you busy for awhile. Can you get started on that right away or must you wait still spring?

We have started right away! Spent hours clearing weeds, been buying seeds and ordering plants and many hours drawing and planning. Hours of fun for us both! 🙂

Ours is a starter plot so 1/3 of a whole plot. Ours measure 31′ x 8’6″. The rent is £11 a year!
Embuggerance is a wonderful word to describe the situation! 🙂

I will be following your progress with much interest.
I must do a few rough measurment of my veggie garden and see what type of yield I am getting.

It will. We have four raised beds in our garden and that gives us some produce but it doesn’t last long. The allotment should supplement that well. 🙂
